I posted this in a REALLY long thread and didnt get any help there so thought maybe I should start it new.

My first micro coil for my EVOD/PT II mini kicked ...! But not for my device :( It flooded and leaked on my EGO twist cause it took too long to heat up.

12 wraps on 5/16 drill bit with .28 kanthol and 3mm silica measuring 1.5 ohms

This video I took shows how long it takes to light up with voltage maxed out at 4.8.
Micro coil #1 - YouTube

As an update: I tried using .32 kanthol with 7 wraps and 3mm silica. 2.6 ohms but the thing is so tiny in the center of the wick and still takes longer than factory heads to light up. It just doesn't seem worth it on my ego twist.

So, should I give up on micro coil heads if I'm using a twist or is there hope that I may realize some benefit over factory heads? I'm really starting to think the max current of these twists is the limiting factor. Any suggestions or guidance or personal experience is appreciated!

Don't give up. I use 30g on my evod and it works great. 30g and 9 wraps it's like 2.3ohms and heats up so quick even at 3.7v. I usually run it around 4.1 or 4.2

Thanks for the help! I was thinking that 30g may be the size I needed! I would have got some if they had it when I ordered the the other two sizes and the four different wicks sizes.

What are wrapping yours with when you make them and what size wick and flavor wicks?

I have used 28 and 30g, but i found the 30g wrapped tightly works best, even at 2.3 ohms. i was surprised how well it works.

I use a tiny screwdriver i got when i replaced my iphone screen, not sure what size. I also use a small machine screw, like #6 or #4 i can't remember. Either wrap around the screw threads to keep them even, or just try to get them as close together on the screwdriver. Then i use tweezers to hold them together and torch it and it will hold nicely. for wick i have been using cotton yarn, just one piece not folded over.

Before I moved on to other mods, I was micro coiling my evods and using a vision spinner. 28g kanthal, 10 wraps, 16g blunt tip or 1/16th drill bit, 1.2 ohms, cotton wick. My spinner had no problem keeping up. Massive clouds, awesome flavor, quick heat up time. I'd say go 28g and lower ohms.

Oh that's great news! I was thinking I shouldn't go under 1.5 ohms for some reason! That's why I need help from this awesome forum and it's members! I was really liking the heavier wire and excited to try your suggestion!! Thanks so much!!!! :)

Well I just tried using the 1/16 bit and all the way up to 13 wraps and I still couldn't get more than 1.2 ohms. When dry burning it was burning the rubber. I know that when its soaked with juice it probably wont get red hot but I dont feel comfortable knowing that it can pull enough current to burn the rubber. I think I will try and find some 30 kanthal and see what that can do for me. Thanks for everyone's help! :toast:
