Military Support Links

Theres a couple links I wanted to post. Not Zombie related, but for our military personnel.

The first is one I have used for a couple years AnySoldier.com You can go on the site and find soldiers that are in need. Click the "where to send" link and you will find a list of soldiers on the left. Click on the soldiers name and they will have a list of stuff that they would like/need. You dont have to send the entire list. The USPS will ship it out priority at a discounted rate- talk to your PO and ask for the Priority boxes for the military.

I usually have my son pick out a soldier, and help get the stuff and pack it. Instead of packing peanuts we buy packages of hard candy and use it as filler, so no waste. Be sure to include a note with your email address and contact info.

The other site, I just found last night, but dont know alot about it. Its totally free. The site is Let's Say Thanks The Xerox company is behind it. You just go to the site, pick out a card, click either the pre-made list of responses or write your own. Click send, and Xerox will print your card and mail it to a service member free of charge. It only takes a minute and the cost cant be beat. The only personal info you have to supply is your email address, nothing else.

If you know of any other websites, please post them up.

Sorry this aint zombie related, but this is the group I am the most active with:2cool:

Good thread! After all, we owe a lot to these people for keeping us free from having to use survival techniques from terrorism and the like. You never know all the potential threats that we've been protected from. Besides, we will be working with and counting on these guys on z-day. No matter how much prep work we do, it won't match their skill.

I have to say my first thought was "Uh oh..." when I read the thread title but I don't see a problem with this. No, it's not zombie related but I support our troops. I may disagree with their boss from time to time, but, I AM a patriot and those boys and girls are putting their .... on the line over there. Back when I was working, I used to donate to a group of girls that sent care packages once a month. Socks, socks, and more socks or any under garment! Sand is not nice to woven fabrics. But in all honesty, letters mean more than anything to someone over seas. Yes they have friends there but even hearing about the mundane daily tasks 'back home' can bring their spirits up. It reminds them that one day it'll be over and they'll get to come home. If anyone doubts that, think of a BLT or a hamburger and how it tasted back when you were a kid vs what one tastes like now. It's amazing what a little 'love' or just plain 'caring' can impart to something and the same goes for something as simple as a letter.
