This morning on Charlie Sykes show, a segment was about a guy who wrote him about an encounter he had at Miller Park. Basically, a guy used the e-cig at the Park, someone complained & he was banished to the smoker's cage.
 (yes; I got the impression it was "it's legal & I'll do it where ever I want to" attitude that really caused the scene?)

I just called guest relations at the Park to see if this was in deed the case. Nice young guy said yes, it was and we had a really nice chat about them, how they don't fall under the ban, what they can smell like (mentioned the beer flavor LOL), yadda yadda. He even aknowledged that with the smoking ban, they were seeing them more and more at the park.

Then I had one of my ill timed wonderful moments that wasn't thought out.......
I said something to the effect that as he noted, they are becoming more popular and if it was possible to contact someone for a demonstration...a little mini tour to educate them in the non-effects of vaping & maybe education would help ease the ban......
Without hesitation, he gave me the name of the guy who made the decision to ban vaping and encouraged me to contact him.
In my defense - I was thinking nip it in the bud before the power to be came to hate hearing "we have another e-smoker in section 408....)

So...anyone interested in meeting the honcho at MP and see if we can convince them to welcome vapors with open arms?

I haven't called him to set anything up and believe me, I would gladly pass on the name to anyone who can more eliquently set up a meeting & I'll be more than happy to go along as 5th chair.....

YOU 'started' it! I don't even like baseball (much less the Brew Crew). Ain't gonna happen. Some ANTI saw (OMG) SMOKE. Smoke is BAD - end of story. This is the pitiful world/society we now live in. Just read where the City of Milwaukee (that can't deal with any sort of rain in a serious and meaningful long-lasting way) wants to have STRICTER smoking regulations than the 'new' State Law! Is it fair? Is it right? Is vaping smoking? NO - NO - NO:smokie:

I only have a quick moment - but I had to get this out of my head or I'd forget it.....I'll come back and clean up later....

When I first read this, my first thought was "yeah; probably a pipe dream, but we gotta give it the ol' college try..."

Well, if the e-cig communittee had that kind of stinkin' thinkin', Cigtechs & other Illinois destributors would be out of business 'cause it would be illegal in their state to sell it.

Over the past couple of years, there have been numerous times I have had to contact various elected officials & strictly due to word getting out and public pressure, those for what ever rediculous agenda was squashed by voices being heard.

Yeah; that guy might listen to us politely, give us a hot dog coupon to use at our next game & wish us a good day..... OR.......he might sit there and say "....wow...I wish these things were available for my mother/father before she died of lung cancer......" (sorry; I don't have the IlL congresswoman's name who said that & moved to table the referendum to a later date......which never made it's way back for a vote...)

ok; da Man is about home & I have to finish something before he gets here.....
Will be back to fix later....great memo pad we have here.....LOL

Being way out here in the boonies, makes it hard, but I could try to schedule a mom thing to get there. I would love to go along!!

I love baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Cheverolets (especially Cameros) :D

An afterthought,,, this might be the kind of thing that Johnson Creek might want to get involved in...

Wow, I wish I didn't live so far away and could come along for support. Thank you guys for taking this on. I haven't been to Miller Park yet this year, but I was having myself happy visions of being able to sit in my seat and vape away when I finally did make it to a game. I hope they are able to listen with open minds. Get get 'em killers!

Just a thought, what was Charlie saying about all this?? I know he has a lot of pull in Milwaukee, and if he was on our side, it might be a slam dunk. Do you think Charlie would listen to us??

I got the impression that he had never even seen one before, but pretty much everyone who called in were vapers & were wonderfully schooling him on it....well, except for the guy who called in & bragged that he's used it on airplanes & that they weren't banned there....oops...

That is an excellent point, Harmony! when I run off the stuff from CASAA, I'll do a couple extra packets and send it to him too.

As an update:
Brewers had an afternoon game yesterday, so I didn't call & it probably won't be until tomorrow at the rate I'm going .......

Sounds good MlrGrl!! Thanks for doing that!! It has been a while since I've been able to listen to Charlie, but what I know of him, I think he would see ecigs as a good thing, if he knew about them.

JJ,,,It's great to have you drop by! I think the reason this hasn't been mentioned in the other forums, is that we don't really have an article or radio blurb to post, (at least that I know of) so there isn't a focal point to bring it to the broader forum. Maybe we could find a way to do that.

Not to be a downer,,, but the way the Brewers are playing, there might not be that many people going to the games either I know C Kool wont be going,, lol.

Another thought this brings to mind,,, we do have confirmation that ecigs are not included in the smoking ban, so people are not breaking any law by vaping indoors,,, right?? Miller park is unique in that it's an indoor outdoor facility, depending on the weather. Also, there's stealth vaping to talk about.

Ya know, with as much time as I spend in coalition meetings, you think it'd sink in that CASAA's got some fantastic resources....but nooooooo - I just can't get it in this thick skull of mine.

Thanks for the link Kristin - this is PERFECT.

Cool! I'm glad it'll be useful!

We purposely tried to keep it brief and focused, as legislator's eyes seem to glaze over at a 300 page e-cig packet with every study known to man, LOL! As we've found out in many cases, they never even looked at it!

Good luck!!

Yeah, very much like a certain 2800 pg. Health care bill. My profession, although around for over 100 years and currently included in most insurance and Medicare, is NOT listed in the Bill that no one read but voted on anyway. One person, the Secretary of Health, gets to decide my livelihood (what the hell is that?) So farewell to me and the clients that depend on my services. (in case anyone wonders why I have been in LESS than a good mood lately). I really HATE 'progressive socialism':grr:
