Wow awesome to met you all !!!! I met my hubby 18 yrs ago at the recruiters Station and we have been together ever sence. He first started out enlisted as a Bradley tank Mechanic then(E1-E6) , wanted to try Flying , So he is a Chief Warrant Officer, he is an Apache Longbow Helicopter pilot. We have been thru 6 deployments and countless other training times where he is gone anywhere from 30 days to 3 months.

Im not gonna say it gets easier, but it isnt as hard as it was when we were newly weds :) what i do miss is when the kids were younger and not in school , Hubby would deploy i would go home for visit with family to help the time go faster. Now that they are in school we just hang here till he gets home. I have a part time job now( after 16 yrs of being a stay at home mom) that i totally adore working as a Game Advisor for Game Stop / Eb games. Gaming is in my blood and playing in my garden when the weather permits.

SO! Mil moms/wives/brats- where've you been?!

My hubs has been a lot of places, but until this year we were stuck in Tucson Az. We're going as a family to Germany in mid/late August this year for our first as a family move.
I'm currently off base for the first time since we got married, living near his family in Kentucky and I REALLY miss base life.

Koala..... I will be praying for your hubby and your family.

I am new to this Military family thing.... Hubby and I have only been married 2.5 years.... although he has been gone most of that time.... He was sent on an IA to Bahrain shortly after we married... home for a few months and then he moved to Guam. The kids and I (blended family, 6 total) live in TN. I would LOVE to be able to move around with him and his career, unfortunately I believe my 3 need their dad more than I need to be with my hubby.... soooooo, here we stay.... hopefully things will play out like we plan and I will eventually get to move to at least 1 duty station with him..... but not until the youngest is out of school....

My daughter's husband is a Marine drill instructor. Prior to this he has spent 2 years in Iraq which was a year each time he went. Their children are 9 and 5. He has missed 2 years out of their lives. When he is training marines he works 14 hours a day 7 days a week. He rarely sees his family during a cycle. This is very hard on my daughter and grandchildren. He has been in the marines for 12 years and is very dedicated. They barely get enough money to live on each month. I have had to subsidize their income since they were married. Even the car that she drives was purchased by my me. I certainly don't mine helping them out.

We should be proud of the troops and their familities.

Martha: I'm sorry to hear about your daughters hardships. The long deployments can be soo difficult. We've been lucky to only have a few- but my hubs still missed half of my pregnancy with youngest daughter and the first few months of her life. I play mom and dad a lot of the time because the hours can be maddening. It's only now that they're both in school full time that I've been able to start getting my collage on and at 33 I feel a bit like an old bird. But the rewards are awesome and the community really helps. Make sure that girl asks for help from a base chaplin/first shirt (or whatever they're called in the marines) there's a lot of help for struggling military familys, if you know who to ask/where to look.
