Hi all

I decided it was time to give up the cigarettes and got hold of the mini protank 2 kit.

i'm having a few problems and any advice would be appreciated.

When i inhale I can hear the sound of air being pulled into the ecig, it's quite loud and I find that it draws attention when other people are around, is the sound normal on this kit. My friends' devices ( not same as mine) don't seem to make this noise.

When I press the power button there is a crackling sound, is this normal.

When I inhale, a short burst of vapor comes from the tiny holes in the collar between the battery and the cartomizer, is this supposed to happen?

i really want to make this work but things like this are making me think that I'm not doing this right and I'm close to giving up already.

thanks in advance

Hi Newstart, welcome to ECF...

Hi all

This is normal. You can cover one of the air vent holes and this may reduce the sound, but it also reduces the air flow through the vaporizing chamber of the atomizer.

When I press the power button there is a crackling sound, is this normal.
Normal... the sound of liquid being heated fast enough and hot enough to become vapor the moment you press the button.

When I inhale, a short burst of vapor comes from the tiny holes in the collar between the battery and the cartomizer, is this supposed to happen?
You are blowing out a bit, and probably don't begin your inhale until after you've pressed the button. Try beginning the inhale, then pressing the button.

i really want to make this work but things like this are making me think that I'm not doing this right and I'm close to giving up already.

No worries... all questions will be answered, in time.

Cheers,

Try putting electrical tape over the air holes on the base, start with 1 air hole, then add as needed, I cover 1 hole, but a lot of people cover 2 or 3 air holes.
Crackling sound is normal, and vape coming out of the air holes means you are blowing in slightly before inhale.
Mini pro 2's can take a little playing with to get then perfect for you, but once you get it right, you will love it.

Also the mini pro 2's come with 2 flavor wicks (wick for the coil, and 2 small 1mm flavor wicks on top of the coil) if you find yourself getting dry hits, or vapor seems a lot less than it should, try removing 1 flavor wick.

Hopefully you're already aware of this and it's covered just incase you haven't... The most basic piece of advice for filling tanks/clearomizers/cartomizers is to tilt it on an angle and fill from the side of the tank. You don't wanna pour liquid down the centre tube when filling. This will make crackling or gurgling noises and can make e-juice liquid get drawn up into your mouth or leak out onto the battery. I am still waiting to recieve my KangerTech Protank-II Mini (V2) in the mail but from what I've seen if you have the Mini (V2) which had the removable drip tip at the top for filling it should be as easy to clear out the centre tube as the CE4, 5 & 6's. With those ones if you accidently got some liquid in the centre tube you just unscrew the clearomizer. Place the bottom on a tissue and blow hard in the top drip tip (mouth piece).

The other tip I've heard one youtube reviewer say is that sometimes these different good quality tanks can do this with the battery if screwed on too tight as some can resrict various airflow holes leading to too much suction therfore too much e-juice liquid getting pulled into the coil. He found this only after the 3rd inhale or so and found with different brand/model batteries there was no problem or with the problem fit battery he just had to not tighten it all the way.

As far as I've read so far the KangerTech Protank-II Mini (V2) and the Apsire ET-S Bottom Dual Coil (BDC) Glassomizer are arguabley two of the best glass tanks out there at the moment for quality, bang for buck, look and functionality. If you've got a real KangerTech and cannot figure it out I would definatley contact the retailer or the manufacturer for warranty or help.

1: sound of air being pulled.
Normal ? I suppose so. Sounds like you tend to be in a very quiet environment! Like a monastary!
But yes, if you're in a quiet environment I'm sure you can hear the air through the holes on most tanks.

2: crackling sound.
Not only normal but good; it means your coil is not flooded; its the sound of your juice vaporizing on a damp wick;
if the coil is flooded over, you won't hear it
if the coil is too dry you won't hear it or it might be louder and you get burnt hits
when the coil is damp just right, it makes a characteristic sound you can get used to.

3: short burst of vapor
sounds like a puff; its an unintended puff on your part, causing airflow outwards before you inhale; it's usefull; it tells you your coil is working right.

I have tried a number of tanks and have settled of the PT II mini's exclusively. In fact I now have 4 of them, mostly because they have treated me so well.

Yes, they can be a bit noisy, but they have flooded less than any tank I've tried and when they do, a quick run of a swab down the center tube clears that right up.

At first I was turned off by the low capacity of the tanks, but I enjoy swapping up flavors often and unlike a lot of tanks I've tried, they have performed well from full to dead empty. While some other tanks I own hold more, they get very finicky as they get near empty.
