I've had the mini protank for about 3 weeks until now I've loved it, a total beast of a tank. However, 2 days ago I changed the dual bottom coil. Since then their has been a muted and slightly burn taste. If anyone knows how to resolve this issue I would greatly appreciate any help!

I am not familiar with the protank 3, however there are a couple things that might be causing this issue. What juice are you using? Vg heavy juices (juices that have a lot of vg) tend not to wick as well in tank systems as 50/50 blends. So if you are using a vg heavy juice, try using a 50/50 juice. Also Is your mod variable voltage and/or variable wattage? if so, try turning down the voltage or wattage. This will allow the coil to heat up more slowly, and get hot less quickly. If you have your mod cranked all the way up, that could be causing these dry hits. I know the protank does not have adjustable airflow, so maybe even experiment with different drip tips (if you have some). If you are using a really wide bore drip tip, this can make it more difficult for the juice to wick properly. Also, try plugging the airflow hole with your finger and drawing through the drip tip. This will draw juice directly into the chamber. Also, sometimes these clearomizer replacement coil heads can just be duds. In my experience you will occasionally get one that just does not work right and you have to move on. If you switch out the replacement heads and you still have this problem, maybe even try purchasing higher resistance replacement heads, as they will produce a cooler vape, and heat up less quickly. I'd guess a dud coil. I've had a couple. That's why I buy them 5 at a time and one of these days real soon will be rebuilding them.
Yeah I bought a 5 pack aswell. I also took apart my old coil and am getting some kanthal to rebuild also

It is possible and there are lots of videos on how to do it, but I'm a wuss. I'm going to do singles first.
Of course I also use old protank 2 heads in my protank 3's. Work just fine. (PT2 heads are single coil.) However, PT2 heads do not work in the Kanger Aerotank. They flood horribly.

It's probably a bad coil. These new "improved" coils from Kanger seem to be duds more often then they used to. My mother got three duds in a box of five. I have a box of five coming in the mail, I'm hoping for the best.
Did you accidentally fire the coil before you let the wicks get fully saturated? That can burn the wicks, which will make the flavor have that muted burnt taste, and you will never get rid of that taste without replacing the head.
When you change the head and fill the tank, give it a good 5 minutes or so to sit and soak, then cover the air holes and give it a couple of unpowered puffs (just puff on it without hitting the button) to make sure the wicks are good and saturated.
