I usually use Evods for when Im out and about but I tend to like the more corrosive to plastic juices. Looking for something glass. I do have the Protank 2 regular size and have used the T3 (which the Aro's look like) Which is better? I could get 2 Aro's for the price of one Protank Mini and I tend to like that the Aro holds more but I have never used them. Any opinions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I have both and love them both. I personally think the Pyrex Aro vapes slightly better, but the mini pro-tank 2 looks slick and has a replaceable drip tip and performs nearly as well. The Aro feels more robust and has a bigger tank, but the mini has a smaller form factor. I switch back and forth between them regularly and can recommend both as solid options.

I haven't used the Mini, but I've used the Protank 1 and Protank 2. Both were terrible. The Smoktech ARO was a slam dunk. The price, size, metal wrapped pyrex, it's a win. I bought 10 heads and a ball of P&C yarn. I boiled it, ripped the heads apart (I find silica to be less than enjoyable), rebuilt all 10 heads, and still have 7 good ones to go. I've been using the ARO since August. I've ran a mixture of 30/70 PG/VG and 80/20 PG/VG, all worked well, just had to compensate the 80/20 with some flavor wicks.

I own a PT2 but not a mini, however I have 2 Aros and like them very much. It's true the Kanger heads won't work in the Aro, however, Aro heads DO work in the Protanks and EVODs (even though they say they don't), so you will still only need to buy one kind of head after your Kanger heads are gone, if you go with an Aro.

The Aro tanks DO use the eGo cone threads - not 510 threading like the PT2, and I assume the mini.

Yes. And I preferred the Aros because the Aro heads that came on the Aro tanks delivered much more flavor than the Kanger head that came on the PT2 tank. So I took one of the Aro heads out of the Aro tank and stuck it in the PT2 and it was MUCH BETTER than the Kanger head. Re-wicked with cotton, and better still. The PT2 with Aro head became my fave device.

However, I bought 20 more Aro heads to use and just started to dip into those (rebuilding with cotton) and for some reason I'm now having a problem with the grommet giving that awful taste. Didn't happen with the heads that came ON the Aros, but is happening with the replacement Aro heads. So tried using a new Aro head without rebuilding, and it also gives the grommetty horrid taste. So am at a loss at the mo' trying to figure out how to fix this, or if I got a bad batch of heads or what. So in the interest of honesty.... the Aro heads were great until I started replacing them... now I'm not sure what's happening...

Yes, I have both the Tumbler and the Pyrex Aro so I was thrilled to hear that they would work in my Mini Protank-2. And after testing that theory out, it appears to work! Yay! For one I can get the Smoktech coils cheaper and as a bonus I've always felt that they vaped better. So now I can just stock up on Smoktech coils and use them on all of my tanks! :w00t:

I also agree they vape better (when the grommetty-yucky taste isn't an issue... which can happen on any head apparently).

On this note I just learned from The Don Mega about the new Kanger head with a silicone grommet that won't stink or taste bad, and no-resistance legs! (Started a thread on them here.) Don't know if they are available for sale yet, but this would be enough to switch me back to Kanger heads... at least for the PT2... the existing Kanger heads won't work in the Aro tanks, so doubt the new heads will... the collar is a little too wide for the Aros.

Where is a good place to get coils for the ARO tanks?

I didn't answer this b/c of having issues with my Aro heads but I guess I caused them myself by dry-burning the new coils to test them, thereby burning the grommets and getting a yucky taste. Anyway I got mine at Discount Vapers... just be sure to soak them before using, either in PGA or even rubbing alcohol for awhile, then rinse well. The machine oils on the ones I got was bad... but came off with soaking. You don't want to vape that. Smoktech ARO/Tumbler Coil Heads

The aro takes kanger t3s heads but I also prefer the smok coils. They seem to have a sort of micro coil in them but the wraps are not as tight together. I use the aro when I'm at work, really good kit
Good news for me! I just ordered a few ARO tanks and have a bazillion kanger t3s heads. Until now the t3s is my fave. I re wick kanger coils and have had good luck with them. I ordered 1.8 ohm heads with the ARO tho- to use on my spinner but am thinking I shoulda gone with SR. Any opinions on this??? Luckily I can try em and swap with higher ohm Kanger t3s head for now if LR gives me issues... thanks for info

Thanks for the link. The coils I ordered from there arrived today. I got a 5 pack of 1.8 ohm and a five pack of 2.4 ohm. I'm going to experiment a bit and see what difference the resistance makes.

Just want to re-state once again in case it wasn't clear, the Aro heads will work in the PT and EVOD but the Kanger heads WON'T work in the Aro tanks. (The Kanger heads have a wider collar that won't seat in the Aro tanks.)

As to what resistance to buy... lower resistance will use less power to heat to the same degree, but sometimes lower resistance coils don't last as long as they get fried from running too much power through them. But if you rebuild it doesn't matter what resistance you buy cause you can rebuild them to be any resistance you want. (Fewer wraps = lower resistance, more wraps = higher resistance, etc.)

My newest buy is the smoke tech aro. Should come in the mail in a few days. Been using proteck mini 2. No complaints, just thinking if I have bigger tank, less refilling. Not much info about the aro avail on the web. I hope I like it. Naturally I forgot to order extra heads so hope it lasts til my next order of other supplies.

I'll be surprised if you don't like it. The Aro is a nice little tank.
