Mini USB cable for 5 volt USB pass through

Hey guys! I'm trying to build a 5 volt USB passthrough. I found an extra mini USB cable I can use but it has 4 wires inside. One red, white , green and black. Do I just use the black and red wired to make it ?

Yes, the white and green are for data connections, Red and Black are the standard DC +Pos and -Neg

Thanks for the reply nsm484. So I don't have to worry about the green and white cables? I'm about 70% finished. I still have to order the battery connections from GoodProphets.com.

Correct. In mine, I just cut them down to the max, and dabbed a bit of Liquid Tape to cover them up.

Also, keep in mind, since this is a straight though PT, if you use it directly on a USB Port on a computer, do not be shocked if
your usb port just turns off, as most motherboards have built-in overload protection. For this kind of Straight Through PT, I
would recommend using a Wall Wart, or a Powered USB Hub

I use both myself, Powered USB Hub at the computer, and on my bedside table, I have a wall wart plugged in for when my batteries are dead, so I can just take my homemade PT into the bedroom with me.

I have 2 USB wall adapters I can use. There USB wall chargers from my old phones. Both say 5volts=1amp. I guessing that will actually make the PT a 5 volt PT. I saw a couple websites that sold 5volts=2amps.
