[It's often unclear to me whether certain articles belong on forums like this and Legislation, or in Media. But to the extent that this one is a general analysis - as opposed to one that focuses on the specifics of the regulatory/legislative process - my :2c: is that it looks more like a "Media" thread than a "Legislation" thread.]

While I personally don't agree with everything in this piece, the economic analysis of the effects of the regulation is absolutely spot on.

This is just the kind of rhetoric and persuasive angle that should help us with CFL supporters (Campaign for Liberty/Ron & Rand Paul movement, etc.).

There are a lot of people on this forum who may be active CFL participants, if I don't miss my guess. It would defnitely help us if links to it were posted in various places around the web that are frequented by similarly-minded denizens. As I am fond of saying - we need all the help we can get.

It would also perhaps help us gain the sympathies of a few elected officials, especially members of the US Congress who are known to have a strong Libertarian bent, and whose staffers presumably share these views.

It can't possibly hurt to have more of those folks on our side.

Good analysis.... esp, liked:

"Given the e-cig executives’ quotes above, it makes sense that following the costly FDA approval process they would suffer from regulatory Stockholm Syndrome, sounding grateful that despite all of the mandated rent-seeking, the FDA has not yet crushed them. Will it last? Time calls the current regulatory proposals for e-cigs simply a starting point, and hints that left-Puritans may still ban Internet sales, flavors, and advertising, as well as extend to the costly FDA-required application process for new products. This is how the government asserts its authority and its ownership."

.... great minds? :) ... or someone's reading my posts on Stockholm Syndrome and 'rent-seeking':
