Hi all,

A sad story for me today. I was traveling from Dubai to Oman, and while I was passing through the customs, the agent, a young man, checks the scan of my bag and this conversation takes place:

Agent: Do you have a laser pen?
Me: Nope
Agent (after thinking for a while): Do you have an electronic cigarette?
Me: Yes
Agent: Please give me your passport and open the bag immediately
Me: which bag? (I had ecigs in both my carry on and check in bag)
Agent: the Big one

so I opened the bag and took out one of my 2 egos that were inside my shaving kit, it had a protank on top. The Agent looked at it as if it was made by Satan himself and he was tense as hell. He told me to give it to him and my passport and go to the high ranking officer for confiscation.

So I went there, sat down in front of the officer who took out a book to write the incident. This conversation took place. And bear in mind I speak arabic and it was so easy to explain to him everything.

Me: Excuse me, can I know what is going on, are e-cigarettes supposed to be confiscated?
Officer: Yes they are banned here
Me: But I am not selling or dealing with it, it is for personal use
Officer: Look sir, there is a law about it

And he pointed to a paper from some ministry that states what means: "Electronic cigarettes are not allowed in past the customs. They contain carcinogenics and very dangerous substances that cause a lot of damage. Customs agents are required to employ the strictest measures if one is found"

So I told him that the wording does not specify that I am not allowed to use it as a personal item.
Officer: Look sir it says right here it contains substance that is very dangerous.
Me: I have been using this device for the last 2 and a half years, do you want me to start smoking now?
So the officer looked at me and became friendly and joking around so he said: it is more dangerous than smoking. I just laughed and stared at him. I told him your studies have to be re-made I am sorry to tell you that it is wrong. He said ok look, I will write a paper that you can take it back with you when you leave the country and he apologized and said he couldn't do anything else. It is funny that he got interested in it after I showed him that with 5 clicks it looks and he told me yes please lock it, lock it, i was like  x 10.

After half an hour I left the airport to the hotel with my other 2 egos, an evod and an igo-l and 100ml worth of e-liquids. Still I am going back for that pro-tank and my 1100 mah ego twist!!!

I will get box mods for traveling next time, they are just looking for long pen-style stuff I am assuming. And by the way I have also 2 disposables that were in my small bag that went unnoticed as well. Weird Stuff guys.

LOL, great story, I hope to be travelling in the next few months. I hate to have to use ego types, and think about sending my good gear ahead in the mail. But..... what if my good stuff gets lost, and second if I take my good stuff, will they take it or hassle me. I dont mind being hassled, im used to it.

My travels will be within the US. but I hate to lose my gear. I went to a courthouse a few months ago and they didnt even blink when they looked thru my purse and I had a large PV with my Odysseus on it.

THinking about your comment on taking a box MOD, but they might think its a detonator.

To be sure, tear apart to pieces every mod you have, put them in different suitcases and never say the word "e-cigarette"
Even CaptSteve have the same problems even he's a captain!!

EDIT: Tell them you're a plumber

I am wondering about some countries aal and I am shaking my head. But we have to start shaking our heads for Europe too. I thought we were civilized and clever people here but I was wrong.

Sometimes I feel that I live in a world full of idiots and I am sure that many people feel that way

That was a good educational conversation you tried to pass on to him....if millions of others could get SOME real facts told or shown to them the vaping commulity would be golden, but I at 57 years old had never had any insight to this vaping world. At the time I decided to quit I just went into a small e-cig shop at the B&I (for all you Tacoma folks who know it) and got educated in 15 minutes as how effective this vaping way of life could save me.

Good job on sharing the information that you did with him.

This is a post I made on another forum.

I only travel with mods and rebuildables so they are easily broken down and hard to identify what they are.
Last time I travelled to Asia I took my GG stuff and Chi You and Kayfuns. No problems.

I've taken stuff to NZ, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Thailand.

No issues.

The rules are:
- Any batterys must be in a protected case (see pic) and then go in there own zip lock bag in my carry on.
- No liquids over 100ml so I just take a few 30ml normal eliquid bottles thrown in with my toiletries in a zip lock liquids bag.
- All my atties go in their own zip lock bag in my carry on.
- All my mods go in their own zip lock bag in my carry on.

If they want to inspect "any batteries" I just pull out the batteries zip lock bag.
If they want to inspect "the metal tubes" I pull out the mod bag and the atty bag.

I also have two CASA documents in my dropbox on my phone to prove they are legal to carry and to fly with.

I too am an airline Captain and travel to all 6 continents on regular basis. Capt Steve turned me on to the best piece of equipment ever-a flashlight head for my PV. When they ask me what's in my bag I say, "well sir, that is my flashlight-it's required equipment." So far, so good. Thanks to the Captain.

LOL, I was just google searching for a 510 threaded laser pointer not 20 minutes ago. Alas, I have not found one. My brother offered to machine one for me, we'll see how it turns out, if he actually does it.

Yeah, somebody should make some 510 threaded mini flashlight heads!

Instantly turn your provari into a flashlight.
