If I get juice with 80/20 pg/vg and 6 mg nic and mix 50 ml of this juice with 50 ml of pure vg, what will i end up with? Will it taste ok and will it save any money?

Most likely will have a very muted taste. Remember, you're taking an e-liquid that's ready to vape and diluting it by half. You'd be better off by purchasing a bottle of the same e-liquid that has no nicotine in it and dilute your existing bottle with that instead.
