+1 for this method.

+2.

Stealth. I believe you're most likely to get a complaint if someone sees the vapor - it looks like smoke and that's what is likely to get someone riled up. Do it quick, hold it in, exhale downward though your nose, blow it under the table... No clouds! They may see you stick something in your mouth they don't understand, but if they don't see "smoke" they'll probably ignore it. You can get your fix without causing trouble.

No. I don't think you should vape where you can't smoke. So just be stealthy :)

I agree with Eighttrucktires. Though it's tempting, I don't vape in public establishments where smoking is prohibited such as restaurants and movie theaters.

If the above position is the one we all take, then the perception that vaping is the same as smoking and just as dangerous, is what we will be telling the public in general. We need to educate the unknowing public to the differences in vaping in a respectful and courteous manner.

I demonstrate and explain my PV to the waiter and/or manager and in all cases but one have been told that vaping is fine.

If more people who vape don't come out of the shadows like they are second class citizens and respectfully promote vaping, then vaping will be defined by the anti's and the result will not be positive.

There's no reason anyone should consider vaping any more offensive than a mismatched outfit. We have nothing to be ashamed of. In a restaurant I ask and I've yet to be turned down. If I ever do get turned down, I'll be polite about it and I won't do it. I also won't go back.

If you insist on acting like you're smoking, that's how you're going to be treated. I for one, prefer to promote the difference.

Good point, Mickey.

Just ask the manager! I found people are a lot more open than you'd expect in nonsmoking establishments.

That's been my experience. If you insist on going out and vaping an 801 or a 510, people are likely to think you are a smoker that's trying to get around the rules and they have a problem. Vape a bottom feeding box mod or something more exotic, they are curious.

We aren't smokers. We shouldn't look and act like them.

Ask and chances are you'll be given permission. If not, no harm done just vape outside.

It's their establishment. So, it doesn't matter that it's not smoking. If they don't approve, so be it.

If you're approved, don't make a show of it. Be discreet so other patrons hopefully won't be concerned about something they may not understand. By that, I do not mean you should be sneaky or try to hide. Just not to blow big plumes of vape up, LOL.

It's unfortunate the majority of the population is ignorant about e-cigs. I think as they become more prevalent in society and people become more educated, more places will become vape friendly. Until then, its probably best to treat vaping like smoking and only do it outside, unless the management is cool with it. And whatever you do, don't argue and make a big deal about it if they don't let you vape inside. Try to educate them, and if they still don't want it, don't try to force the issue. It only takes one person acting like a fool to ruin it for everyone.
