I think much of the confusion comes from the fact that "mg" is poor shorthand for mg/ml. Folks do not immediately realize it is a ratio when they see "mg". If we called it what it is, mg/ml, it would be easier to grasp what it means.
Like if I had a 30ml bottle of 12mg/ml juice it's easy to see that there are 360mg of nicotine in the bottle. (12mg/ml * 30ml = 360mg) And if I added 10ml of 0-nic VG I would have 9mg/ml nicotine strength. (360mg / (30ml + 10ml) = 9mg/ml)
Well, at least my brain does better with the actual units than the poor shorthand...
