I usually mix my PG and VG in one big bottle to make it easier and was thinking why don't I just add my nic to it too. I usually only mix up enough for one batch...which for me is about 6 or 7 30 ml bottles.

My question is there any difference in doing it this way or adding the nic separate? Also should I mix it way ahead of time before I start adding my flavorings. I have the e juice me up calculator so I already know how much to mix in a big bottle.

Thanks!

The only reason I could see doing that would be convenience. Without the flavors it wouldn't cut down on the steeping time.

I don't do it like that for a few reasons, but I may be and the odd ball. I have made mixes anywhere from 65/35 to 40/60 (PG/VG). I make my Nic concentration anywhere from 12 to 18 mg/ml. Lastly some of my mixes have 5% flavoring, some as high as 20%. I like to keep my options open. Good Luck with your DIY. :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

I do what you are referring to. Mixing the PG, VG and Nicotine Base into one Big Bottle. And then just Add Flavoring/Sweetener when I want Flavored e-liquid. I call it making "Pre-Mix". It is a Dead Simple way to DIY.

But...

I Works best for someone who Uses the Same PG to VG ratios. And the Same Nicotine Level for all their DIY.

I premix in a big bottle and just add flavorings, usually in a 5-10% range. This will skew the PG/VG ratio and nic level slightly, but has not been noticeable to me while vaping....YMMV

You could Increase the Nicotine mg and the PG Ratio by 10% or so in you Pre-Mix.

But I'm with you, I can't detect those Small Differences Either.

I haven't gotten to ejuice DIY yet, but I guess I would fill three big bottles with PG/VG and my MGs of nicotine.

Each bottle would be different as to the percentage of PG and VG. They would probably be 70/30, 50/50 and 30/70. Then I would take each big bottle and fill a little bottle from each of the big bottles, only about 5ml in the little bottles, then add flavoring..

At that point, I go into the steeping/airing process. Time to try them to see the differences.

I know this may seem basic and the flavoring adds another whole dimension.

Am I on the right track?

If you are New to DIY, I would suggest that in the Beginning that you make flavored e-Liquids One at a Time.

Get your Measuring, Records and Rhythm down. And Find what works Best for you and your Recipes Perfected.

Making a Rookie Mistake on 20 or 30ml of e-Liquid just kinda Goes with the Territory. We all have Done it. But Making a Mistake on a Large Quantity can be Very Frustrating.

Making the pre-mix nic base and knowing your usual flavoring percentages for a certain ejuice(s) would help for quick mixing and keeping your nic mg.

I was wondering… what percent of PG/VG/Flavoring starts to dilute the nicotine level you wanted to maintain? Can't you just created a nic base 1 or 2mg higher knowing it will be cut with flavoring?

Most of my DIY Recipes call for between 10% and 15% Total Flavoring/Sweetener.

So I just make my Pre-Mix 15% Higher mg and VG wise.

Then when I add the Flavoring/Sweetener, it brings it down to about my Target mg and PG Percentage.

I use the same PG/VG ratio and NIC amt for everything. I create batches of premix leaving around 10% for flavoring. If I want to only use 8% flavoring, I just add 2% more PG to complete it. So mix based on your max flavor % and use PG to correct anything where you want less. Premixing to me is the way to go because you can create a new bottle anytime you want in a couple of minutes.
