Hi all,

New here. Been lurking on and off for a few weeks. Lots of good info! :D

Has anyone else found that LorAnn flavorings -- even those that are sugar free and water soluable -- cause throat irritation (beyond the normal throat-hit)? I've mixed several batches of juice using the LorAnn flavorings, and one using only menthol crystals (no nic for any of these batches). The menthol, though strong, is smooth, but the other batches have a really nasty rough spot. Anyone else experience this? Are there any other good sources for flavorings that I might try?

Recipe I'm using: VG, Alcohol (ethanol, of course) and flavoring.

Thanks much,

Marie

I haven't had problems w/ LorAnns oils. They work well. I don't use alc in my juice, I use water. I have heard that alc can bump up the TH, maybe that is it.

Thanks much. I'll try using water i/s/o the ethel, although I used the alcohol for the menthol juice without a problem. I'll give it a try just the same.

Really!? I wouldn't have thought so, given VG's neutral pH. But I'll try using PG for my next batch (still have 1 dram of LorAnn flavoring left) and see if that doesn't help.

Thanks much!

Both VG and PG are anhydrogenous, which means they readily absorb water. PG does it worse to me. I drink about twice as much liquid as I did before vaping. Very important. It could just be that the nebthol relieved the syptoms og dehydration, as it does reduce irritation.

As fo coffee, LorAnns Keoke coffee is my favorit DIY, and very easy to make.

Any suppliers who you would compare it to? I just ordered a bunch of coffee flavorings from flavourart and perfumer apprentice yesterday. Hoping to come close to duplicating a couple coffee flavors I've gotten from vendors that I really enjoyed.

I have never gotten any coffee flavors from suppliers that met my expectations of a true black coffe taste. They are all over sweet, and muddied up w/ cream and other flavors. Though I do like Chocolate Mint Mocha from a couple supliers, but that is not a strait coffee taste.

Yes, they're both anhydrous, but that shouldn't cause the irritation I'm experiencing, although it could explain the dry mouth (the ethel is hygroscopic also). And I've thought about whether the menthol was having a soothing effect. Certainly a possibility. Perhaps I should try mixing up a few ml of plain VG and ethel, and see how that vapes.

Or maybe I should just stop whining and buy pre-mixed juices ;)

Thanks much,

Marie

You didn't mention what flavors you are using that were irritating - some people (including me) find vapping cinnamon irritating. I like a lot of Loranns flavors - I love their ButterRum and orange cream - my main problem with some of their flavorings is excessive food dyes - DO NOT TRY THERE GRAPE - it turns everything - including your teeth - purple.

Good point. I tried five flavors: Apple, Brandy, English Toffee, Licorice (what was I thinking???) and Creme de Menthe.

Those were the most interesting to me of the no-sugar, water-soluable flavors.
