So I'm pretty new to mixing, actually I haven't made a good mix yet and that's why I'm here. first let me tell you what I have and what I have been doing. I have a whole bunch of flavors from Wizard labs along with there nic. I also have a few flavors from Vapingzone and I have VG from Essential Depot, I only use VG, no PG.

Well I made my first mistake by trying to mix more than one flavor, no problem though as I'm only mixing 10ml at a time. So I go to single flavor only but I just don't seem to get it. For example the other day I mixed up some carmel mocha from vapingzone at there recomended percentage of 2.5% and I can taste the flavor well enough but it just dosen't have any depth or body to it and this is what is happening to some of the other single batches I have tried to make. Now some of the other single flavor batches I tried I started out at the recomended percentages and all of them had no depth or body so I tried upping the percentages in increments and finally giving up on those because I know that I ended up using too much and boy did they end up tasting like....... So I still have this carmel mocha mix that I made at 2.5% that is not so bad other than lacking depth, as I call it, so what am I missing?

The only thing that I've made so far that tastes any good is the home made coffee that I made by mixing a 1/2 cup of fresh ground Eight O'Clock with a half cup of VG and letting it steep.

True - each persons taste is different.........good example is myself - cannot vape any Halo - think it is too perfumy even after a month of steeping. Absolutely enjoy JC Tennessee. Wish someone else that like JCT has made a recipe similar to it and would share it....most of the recipes in the section are food/fruit type = wish there was more tobacco type recipes ..I know - the fun of DIY is to make tinker yourself - and not ask for someone elses -

Tobacco recipes are the hardest because they tend to be perfumey if you even think about
adding too much. And when you see them on this forum they are never just tobacco and
nic juice. It's always a little dab of this, a dab of that, and some of this but not enough to
actually put some in ... ugh .. it gets frustrating.

I've yet to come up with a good DIY. And no, it's not bad to ask for someone else's - that's
how you learn. And even if you do use that recipe, it probably won't come out exactly the
same, and you probably won't make it exactly the same the second time around.

I probably have at least 10 bottles of DIY that range from sour feet to it has potential. I
can never kick it in the astronaut to get it past the 'potential' stage.

I gonna order some flavors I don't have. The post that said add vanilla and whatever to
add body - that's exactly what I had in mind. I want to go with Capella's this time cuz
word on the street is their stuff is easy for DIY virgins. So I'll get their vanilla, caramel,
bavarian cream, honey, and caramel. Yes, I know I put that down twice, but if I can't
make something good out of it, at least I can drink it :)

Get Marshmallow also. I add it to almost everything I make to add depth, 1 drop per ml.

Somewhere out there
You can a drop of sour and or a drop of sweetener to single flavors to give them a boost. I started mixing single flavors and then mixing that ejuice to come up with other batches of mixes. I find vanilla or sweet cream will mellow out a flavor. If you want depth add a tobacco in varying degrees. Have fun and enjoy! bnrk

Hey tazz, what % distilled water do you add to your mix?
I DIY with 100% vg also. I found it very important ,and makes a big difference to thin vg, especially if your using a carto.
It changes the taste, and vaping experience, of the juice.
Oh...and my "depth" that my juice was missing: Stevia and or EM !

No I don't add distilled water but I do have a gallon so I could try some and I don't use cartos, I am dripping with ciscos. I have some EM but what is stevia?

Can't you just let it steep for a week or two. See what you think then?

I do let them steep, at least a couple of days. For the last mix that I made, the carmel mocha which by the way isn't totally horrible, that is steeping now for about a week, I'm keeping this one and I will try to make it better, kind of why I'm asking these questions here.

That is part of the frustration for me. You can't truly tell with some flavors how they will taste
until they have steeped. So, you wait a week or two, then discover it needs something else.
Then you wait a week or two then discover it needs something else. Then you wait a week or
two then discover it needs something else. Then you wait a week or two then discover it needs
something else.

Man ! tazz, you have to try it!
If you mix your mix is all VG and mocha at 2.5% is your only other liquid ?/? Wow, thats some thick stuff!
Try this,... Make your same mix with 10-15 % distilled water.
I would bet this taste good
10% mocha
10% distilled water
1 drop stevia per 5ml

Stevia is a natural sweetener(little goes long way)
