MKB-TS shorting every time

I have a ggts clone (Mkb-TS) that us aluminum. I have taken off the top gold piece to allow 510 connections as it did not work upon opening, and I have an Ithaca clone threaded directly into the mod. It worked great for about two days, now all that happens is my button gets burning hot, as does my battery, and the spring under the battery melted down causing a circular burned indent into one of my batteries. What's causing the short and how do I fix it? Really want this to work with Ithaka
