I've got two main units that I use, one is my Provari with a ZAP and the other is Altoids mod with a DCT. I use the Altoids at night while I'm in bed, but it was my main for a while (both day and night). I never had any health issues before and am a heavy vaper. About a week ago I noticed that I was getting a very sore throat at night and when I would wake up. The more I used my Altoids mod, the worse it would get. Then my Provari came in and I installed a new ZAP. I started using that significantly more than the Altoids and my throat got better almost instantly. Last night I went back to the Altoids mod and I woke up today unable to swallow and coughing up brownish green stuff. I'm convinced that it's my Altoids mod causing this. Well, not specifically the mod itself, but probably the DCT. Should I just throw away the tank and the juice that's in it or just change out the cartomizer inside it and save the juice?

When in doubt, toss it. If you have narrowed the probable cause down to the DCT/juice, just toss it.

I would definitely throw away the carto and the juice, and clean the tank thoroughly.
Remove the caps and take out all the o-rings. If the tube is showing signs of etching
or frosting, then get rid of the tube.
Then I would check the connector on the mod for any signs of corrosion or gunk, and
probably go ahead and clean with some isopropyl alcohol anyways.

I doubt its the mod could be Your DCT Id suspect it its not by any stretch of the imagination quality materials. Try giving a glass tank with SS caps IBT, Phiniac, there are others if you search around. I like smoktek carts 4.5s or 5.0 from ecig Charleston. Also IKenvape platinum or 801 fusion but Iken vape is hit and miss when they are in stock grab 5 boxes or so. Grab you a punch I like the one at VIP Vapor but the cheaper one will do or you can start with a drywall screw. watch some youtube on cart punching and your on your way!

A mod or an ecig or a provari or an ego whatever... the only thing they do is pass electricity over a coil. You need to concentrate on your atty and juice.
Drives me nuts when someone raves about how good their mod vapes, the mod has nothing to do with it, its whats on the mod that matters

Have you used this same juice in both set ups?
If it irritates you ONLY on one set up, that is the one to forgo. Vaping should NOT give you those kind of side-effects---unless you are sensitive to PG (like me). Took me 2 months to narrow it down.

Some of the flavorings used in juice can be irritating to your throat, sinus cavity, and lungs. If you are using a different juice in the Altoid's set-up, I would suspect that the juice is the problem - certainly not the mod, itself.
Both my brother and my mother-in-laws have issues when using cinnamon juice. My brother developed bronchitis - twice - from using cinnamon juices, (yes, he tried more than one juice from more than one vendor). Once he stopped using the cinnamon juices, he was fine. And my MIL, despite the fact that cinnamon juices, (and ONLY cinnamon juices), cause her sinuses to bleed, (so she coughs up blood from the post nasal drip), continues to use cinnamon juices 95% of the time because she likes the flavor best. *smh*

Yup certain flavors in juices make me cough and wheeze. TPA raspberry is one and menthol is another. I also have issues if I go higher than 50% on VG with wheezing and heavy lungs. It's not your mod, it's the juice and/or the carto.
Are you obtaining any airflow from inside the Altoids Box? If so you could be sucking fumes from whatever epoxy you used when you built that unit. That's a good reason to not use recessed atty connectors, batteries also put out vapors.
Very true,i have a nova 3.5 on a standard 2 click VV ego batt and i get massive vapour and taste,it also depends on the juice pg/vg ratio and the flavourings.

Not completely true, really. Mostly true, sure, but there are several factors at the PV end of things that can effect the quality of your vape. Poor or intermittent conductivity, for example, can cause major problems. Being able to vary voltage or wattage can also change the vaping experience versus mods that run at a fixed setting.
It probably doesn't have any bearing on this particular issue, but I certainly have some PVs that give me a better vape than others.
No, they don't just provide current to the atomizer. They are also designed for airflow where the atomizer is mounted onto the battery.
Bronchitis is caused by a bacteria or virus. You should boil or clean anything your liquids touched, and chuck the liquids.
Keep it clean, i had a 306 cannon drip tip i didnt clean for a few days. Sounds gross but i didnt know better at the time. Anyways i ended up getting a sore throat and such. Learned real quick to keep anything i vape out of or with clean.
