Mod question out there to the experts

ok all first off i suck at all thing soldering and such but want to attempt one any way. What would i need in the least to attempt it? how much would i need to budget to make it?

what i am after is a high 3.7- 6 volt mod that use's either a 510 or 901 atty?
is there a simple setup that would allow this. maybe even a solder-less mod?

i could care less how small it is what i am after is the end result. maybe then i will tweak the size down to a hand or pocket portable.

You can buy conductive glue to get around the soldering issue. I don't have any experience with it myself, though, so I can't say how well it will work.

Wow Join Date: Dec 2008 and you haven't even attempted a Mod? If you want 5v your going to have to solder a little...if your happy with 6v or 7.4v or 3.7v No solder really is needed

Ok for my first mod i built a 5v nicostick....(You'll find instructions all over the forum)

i used a
4AA box from Radioshack(Alot of room incase of mistakes)
A cheap 1.5amp radioshack Switch
a TI 5v Regulator
a Prewired 901 battery Connector from Nerf
and two 14500 batteries

Its a fairly basic setup...Now if you were happy with 3.7v or 6v you can do this completely solderless...

just a slightly different Battery box and no regulator...any specific questions about any steps along the way and i'm sure 100's of people will step out with great ideas to help you along the way

If you want to attempt 5v without the use of solder, but don't want to add a resistor or voltage regulator, you could try using Liquid Solder (its like silver paste) Add a bit more epoxy than the silver conductive part, and resistance will increase just a bit. Make sure to let it fully cure

either a Nicostick or Screwdriver clone is easiest. For me, the screwdriver is super easy. Just buy the flashlight from dealextreme or bestofferbuy.com, then follow ripleys instructions. Its pretty simple, tape the neck so when u cut it, it doesnt marr the finish, the entire light comes apart and only one wire to solder/cond glue. you will need a lil glue also to make sure the connector stays put.

the whole thing will cost around $20 to make

A Nico stick is faster bc you can get everything at Radio Shack. A soldering gun at walmart is 4$. The box is $1.99 the switch is $1.99/for pack of 4 and then you just need a connector from an old battery, nerf or altsmoke.com. Takes abt 15min to put togther, cost is under $5 for nicostick. search "how to make a nicostick" for those how to's.. good luck!

I made a similar solderless mod only with an end button. only work really needed was to open the hole in a large washer slightly to accept a 510 adaptor. An rca connector would probably have fit without widening and has the added benefit of a securing nut. I use an 18650 in mine for 2 days vaping at 3.7 but I think 2 x cr2 3.0v would fit (may need a spacer or use the spring from the endcap ) for 6V vaping.
The torch I use looks the same as the ones Robert uses for his Detonator mod
