Avoid using the battery. Rebuild that atty and use it on a different mod. Glad you're okay.

I'm glad you're OK.. I'm also glad it was reported by an experienced member such as yourself. Folks need to realize that many of these devices are being rushed out of the factories due to high demand, and QC / QA could be expected to suffer as a result.
I get tired of seeing some posts from members practically excusing this shoddy manufacturing, both in the electronics, and mod construction. IMO, even a small percentage of failures such as yours is NOT acceptable. Folks should not have to assume a risk of fire in any way, shape, or form when purchasing these devices. It cannot even be remotely compared to assuming risks of having UL listed appliances in one's home, or the other mainstream consumer goods available to us.
IMO, as long as folks keep opening their wallets for these cheaply-constructed devices, and create a large demand, the manufacturer's will continue the seemingly growing trend of allowing a number of these devices which are potentially dangerous, to slip into the hands, and homes of consumers.... Not acceptable. Barring folks getting together and filing class-action law-suits against whichever party responsible (surely on the horizon as incidents increase), the other solution is to speak with your hard-earned $$, and stop supporting these companies by purchasing their devices.. They would quickly get the message, and QC / QA should improve across the board.
Can i ask on what basis the battery has been marked for disposal, since a Samsung battery discharging to 3.56v is hardly cause for concern?
Was the battery at fault or the electronics?
I realise safety first and all that, but is strikes me that a battery just supplies power without any 'intelligent' circuitry.

It was a Samsung 25r.
Atty was Aqua v2, 0.7 ohm, 23W. The atty is fine.
The battery show 3.56V, but I'm not sure I should use it again.
Unless the battery was actually hot when you took it out, it might be fine.
From your description, sounds like something went wrong in the electronics and it was probably either firing or otherwise draining the battery for an hour;
of course you'd want to mark the battery to keep track of it.
I just want to propose a toast for 3 pages without any hindsight asshattery![]()
Yes, its a regulated mod with a Yihi sx300 chip.
Yes, the battery comes out fast and I pulled it on my way to the door because there are animals outside. I wouldn't have if I couldn't have. Some of my mods there is no way I would've had the time to try.
I would toss the battery as you intend Roxy, it could have discharged at a higher rate than is safe for it, for a very short time, and caused internal damage that could have ugly consequences later. So for $6, its a disposable item. It may be fine, it may not be, it cannot be known or measured unfortunately.
ETA - sorry to hear this happened, it would be a bit nerve-wracking at the least.
Question, does the sx zero mod ( clone ) have protection against short circuit, reverse polarity and temp control?
I find that hard to believe. Doesn't damage to a battery show up as increased internal resistance which can be measured?
In the same way that old batteries gradually diminish in performance.
It occurs to me that if you are right, nobody has any idea about ANY battery, even a brand new one.
