Modding Flashlight Tubes?

Plain and simple, what equipment and materials would I need to research and acquire to start tinkering with, and modding, flashlight tubes?

Any and all information and links would be very helpful, I've seen some flashlight tubes recently that I've thought would make great mechs.

I've got an Asmodus 26650 Fat Snow Wolf on the way that I can learn from, so I'm good to go there. The point is, I don't have a lathe, and would be looking to start with flashlight tubes as a hobby. So I'm looking for any information on tube types, connectors, research materials, etc.

I imagine I could ask this on a flashlight forum, but I'm not a flashlight hobbyist so have no need to register with. By my reasoning, however, I'm sure there are some flashlight hobbyists amongst the modders in this area of the forum.
