So I purchased an evod starter kit not too long ago and get a decent amount of vapor. My question is, what should I upgrade for better clouds? The battery is 650mah and the coils in the tank range from 1.8 to 2.5ohms. I usually use 2.2 ohm coils cause thats all I can find. Should I get a tank with more airflow and lower ohms or a stronger battery?

I'd get a stronger battery. ;) Most people seem to like the iStick 30 with a Nautilus mini tank on it. I didn't get one of those, so I have no personal experience with that setup, but I know they're good, and sturdy, and not too expensive. You can grow into vaping with that. I DID start out with the same EVOD kit you have, and you're right, it "works," but it's not the best.

YES! You should upgrade. (If you want more vapor).

650 mAh and 2.2ohms is not too bad with a fresh battery, but 650 will drop off very fast.

A 'mod' (VV/VW) that keeps the power up until the battery says no more and will allow you to vape at 8 watts upwards will mean more vapour and more consistent vapor as the battery runs down.

Lots of people vape in the 8-20 watt range (as far as I can tell) but tanks that come with 1.8ohm, 2.2ohm and 2.5ohm coils will almost certainly NOT like being pushed much higher than 10 watts. I'm guessing you are using a Kanger tank (on the Kanger battery) and I would say an EVOD clearomizer could easily be in trouble even at 9 watts. Certainly over 10 is asking for trouble.

So, you're going to need a mod and a tank i.m.o. :)

This is a really good first "upgrade" in my personal opinion.

It is an evolution. my first regulated mod was the istick 50 watt (built in battery) and I later also bought a 60 w, with a separate battery. They are fun to get to know and easy to learn.

All of the above, If you want more vapor you need (at least slightly) lower coils and better airflow, and that will require a stronger battery. If you want to stay mouth-to-lung vaping, an iStick 30 and an Aspire Nautilus tank will be a big improvement. If you want cloud, instead of just better vapor, you're probably going to have to do direct lung vaping, and need stronger gear yet. The Kanger Topbox Kit and the Evic VT or VTC kits all come with more power (a lot more) and a tank with a wide variety of coils so you can try different styles of vaping to see what you might like best.

Hello @John0100010 and welcome to the forum.
I'm just following the experts above and agreeing :)

There are dozens of upgrades from where you're at. I started with a similar setup, and it didn't take long to get more reliable gear, better quality vape, and longer lasting batteries.

The way I look at it, (and went thru it) you can continue to buy the inexpensive stuff, or "INVEST" in your health to stay off the cigs. The Nautilus is a great tank in my opinion (shown on the iStick 50 watt and center eGo style battery)

Good luck in your journey.

That depends are you a tinkerer willing to make what ya got work better? Do you rebuild your coils? Or just buy new ones?
I don't think there are any 'plug and play' improvements for the Evod. You'll just need to upgrade.
IF you can twirl a 1/16" drill bit between your thumb and forefinger then you can open up the airholes in the Evod tank base. Then take the positive pin out of the atomizer and drill the hole out to 5/64". Don't even need a drill, just the 5/64" bit and 2 small vise grip pliers. You will at least double the air flow. Wick with cotton instead of that darn silica and you'll be amazed. Buy nr-r- nr prewound coils to save battery energy (in our miserably inadequate 650mahs) and you'll love your Evod all over again when you're lung hitting on it.

PS: And that's only the beginning

Wow thanks a lot guys. Ill check out the nautilus tank. Sounds like I should just buy a new ecig. I might go with that nautilus, istick setup. Looks pretty sexy. How much did that setup cost btw?
It's still a good recommendation. (iStick and mini Nautilus)

If you can live with a little bigger (not much so) the Joyetech eVic mini VTC could be good, not necessarily for the temp control (I rarely use mine that way) but the replaceable battery option.

If your looking for decent clouds and a good airflow my nautilus is a great flavor vape but lacks on the airflow imo.

I'd look into a kanger kbox mini kit. I prefer the replaceable battery over the internal.. The subtank that is included in the kit comes with a rebuildable atomizer if you are interested in building your own coils (I build the subtank at .9 at 25 watts it has good flavor and vapor), you can also buy the premaid coils. At .5-1.5ohms or around that ballpark

If the battery isn't variable voltage, assuming original single coil EVOD, you need a battery with LESS output (lower voltage), or at least I do, to allow long drags and no burning. The 2.2 coils are also the best for it, other than possibly DIY. You can't push it harder, although a larger battery unit will last longer and may be more consistent. The 650 maH can last surprisingly long though and the small size is enjoyable. Having multiple EVODs is another way to go, to spread the load, provide backup and variety.

I found trying to get something with a LITTLE more vapor a frustrating experience. The dual coil Kanger and low end Aspire units I found to have only a small increase of vapor, increased ejuice use and LESS flavor, although a bit "cleaner" and suited to some flavors. The Nautilus is highly reputed but no one warned me about the issues with the others so I haven't tried it yet. It needs a better battery and once you get past the small stick batteries I'm not going to carry them around a lot when I have EVODs for that. I'll probably go straight up to the Subtank when I experiment with better tanks again. Meanwhile I now use a dripper atomizer (RDA) which puts out a lot more vapor even at not that much more power (10-15 W) and is well suited to a constant flavor adventure, which I like since I still find EVODs better for my tobacco flavor collection and prefer complex mixes in the RDA. This is using an iStick 30, lot of people focus on the battery but I focus more on the atomizer as being the more interesting variable.
