So my Reo mini of 1.5 years started to feel a bit old to me.

I ventured out into the world of VV/VW and picked up the Seigelei Z Max flat top.

I used it in VW mode and it was nice... The only thing is, I HATE tanks! They never seem to work for me. I had the Protank 2 on it and it was nothing but problems. I seemed to rip through a coil in about a day. It gurgled at points. coils gave different draws. It was just all around messy. I rebuilt a few coils but that wasn't to easy with such small parts. Ad oh ya, how the heck to you carry this thing... Not in your pocket. Don't drop it either. Glass everywhere if the tank shatters. The tread did break on me once. The mod itself feels nice but the electronics seems to be a bit flakey with it turning itself off, forgetting settings, etc. I didn't see it lasting so after about a month I made the push. :)

This is the perfect setup. Tumbled Raw Reo Grand with the RM2. The rebuildable atty is my first and I'm making coils pretty darn good I think. I will post another thread with my method but it involves a bolt to get perfect coil spacing.

Once again I am a REONAUGHT!!! Momentary lapse in reasoning.

Here is we're I'm at for coils at the present. 30 gage / 7 wraps gets me 2.0.

I wrap the wire on a bolt to start and it seems so easy but I'll check out the micro oiled video.

I started out making coils on a bolt also. Changed tremendously when I did the micro with the coils touching. I recently tried a standard sized coil and quickly went back to the micro.

You really can't beat the flavor and vapor.

Just a dumb question but if you wrap on a bolt how do you remove the coil? I have one of Darkzero's jig's and I love it. I did like the microcoils but like using eckowool and have a hard enough time feeding the eckowool into the regular size coil and am sure I would not be able to come close to getting it into a micro coil. I love the eckowool because you can not burn it up.. Unlike the cotton.

You just screw the coil off the bolt like you would a nut...I used to use this alot before i discoverd micro coils.

Cheri,

pdib taught me to wet up XC-132 with juice (which i never thought of doing) in order to help thread it thru the coil. that was on a 5/64 drill bit wrapped coil, tho, but it worked great-- i struggled without the juice. might work with ekowool as well, depending on how thick it is.

hmmm... isn't ekowool a hollow sleeve? i wonder if it would slip over a dz jig mandrel to allow wrapping the coil over the whole shebang?

I tried that but the pressure of wrapping the coil tight on ceramic tore it up. the juice helps a lot also if you fire it with a torch first it gets stiffer. So torched, wetted with the end cut on an angle I can get in 1/16 micro coils.

I will have to give this a shot, but had a heck of a time previously. The 1/16 part is blowing my mind, I couldn't pull it off with 5/64!

now, i'm confused...

it sounds like your 1st sentence is about wrapping a coil over ceramic pre-sleeved over a bit or mandrel. but the rest sounds like you're talkin bout how to thread the stuff into an already-wrapped microcoil.

please expand my tiny brain :)

Great ideas all. Yes Dennis I do torch it and then wet it in VG or the ejuice before tried to feed it into the coil. I do love the micro coils but have enough difficulty just trying to get it into the coil at the larger diameter coil. The eckowool is hollow but I never tried slipping it over the shaft of the jig then wrapping the wire around it but wondering if it would then end up to loose in the coil when I pull it off my jig???? Guess next time I make a coil I will try it. I will never go back to cotton for using my RM2 on a regular basis. Love the fact that it will not burn up like cotton. Was always burning the cotton no matter how I tried to remember to squonk. Now I only use cotton to test my DIY juices so I can easily replace to test the next flavor.

Check out Super-X's sticky for the video on micro coils for the RM2. It will change everything for you.

Thank Stringer! You were correct. It does change everything. Wow the cloud!!! Although my first coils generated pretty good results the micro coil is instant and plentiful. Here is my first go at it. I wrapped it around a t-pin and with 10 wraps (30 gage) I get 1.5 ohms. Most excellent and flavorful.

sorry, correct. since it's hollow I did try to put it over the jig pin and wrap around it, but that tore it up and it started to fall apart. So instead I torch it until it glows white, let it cool as it holds the heat for a while, don't ask how I know. Then I snip just a bit from two sides of the end so it comes to a point in the center. I wet it and I don't push it in, I twist it and let it thread through the coil.
