Hello everyone.

I've been vaping since thanksgiving. My brother in law who was the only other smoker at the family gatherings gave me a 510 starter kit as a gift along with a Dekang USA mix 18mg 10ml bottle.

Since then, I have been a postal worker stalker and tried 3 different units, alternating between drip and carts.

Currently I have:
Joye 510 button activation - Dripping works best for me with these.
Joye GO Mega button activation - Carts work best for me with this one
Pipe 610 auto activation - Can't get a throat kick at all!

My biggest concern that I have had no luck figuring out yet is this.

I always buy 100% PV liquids. I NEED a hard throat kick every time and a good vapor cloud. I've been buying the bulk of my liquids from Vapor Bomb as the first bottles I purchased ( Cinnebomb and Apple mixed together for ... yayz! AppleJacks! ) had always great throat kick and vapor + intense flavor. The first 30ml, 12mg bottle of flavored liquid I purchased from them was great. The second one I got had no throat kick and the flavor was off. That sounds like a problem with the maker.. so skip on.

I've since branched out and tried several different flavors from both the same and other vendors. I've noticed that the throat kick and vapor production seems to vary GREATLY from one bottle to the next, regardless of the PV content and method ( drip vs carts ).

I've blown my Atty's out, let them sit for a few days.. purchased new attys.. ect ect.. But in the end, it seems like I get bottles that don't produce the TK and vapor that I need.

Has anyone else experienced this large inconsistency?

Welcome to ECF! Throat hit is a combination of PG, nicotine level and how you're vaping. PG isn't going to give you much vapor and it might not give you the throat hit you want with a low level of nicotine. This does not mean get a higher level nicotine because that might not be right for you. Different flavors can also effect throat hit. Strong flavors, like cinnamon and menthol might give you more than say, peach.

I'm not really a big fan of throat hit, TBQH. I like warmer vapor so I moved to a mod and started using LR attys. Some people use LR attys on their eGo batteries, even though it isn't recommended. You have to drip when using these and I don't suggest getting attys with a resistance lower than 2.0ohms.

There might be other suggestions from others that I missed.

VaporBomb usually mixes to order, but it's possible that some of what you got was premixed, and some was fresh. If so, the new stuff needs to steep. When I got my 30ml bottle of Green Apple, it was pretty awful, much better a week later, and great now. FSUSA is kind of the same.

For TH, I like VaporBomb Fire n Ice at 80pg/20vg.

Perhaps I'll try the 18mg nic levels. The Bottle that I was given as a starter was that and it never failed to deliver for me. I switched to the 12mg level because I was kind of going by the " middle of the road " rule. I was a pack a day smoker. That level seemed right to me.

But IS there a relation to Nic level and throat kick? I haven't read much on here about that. Only that Pg will give throat kick, and VG gives vapor.

Some possiblities
- clean attys vape stronger than gunky ones
- cart stuffing can get compressed and not contact the atty as well or stop wicking as well
- juice does vary sometimes
- when you first breathe vapor you are not used to it and it is harsher than when you get used to it
- if you over-vape you can get used to the flavor and sensation so your tongue/throat could be less sensitive to it for while
- after drinking hot drinks or alcohol your throat can be less sensitive

Sounds like you have been given some good advice. Eliquid is consistently inconsistent and it does need time to "brew" for the flavors to come out. Higher nicotine will give a stronger throat hit, but increasing the nicotine may mean having to change your vaping habits if you are not used to it. I have seen some eliquid vendors offer options to vary the intensity of the throat hit. You may want to check into that.

I've vaped several flavors of 24mg Dekang(100% PG), and several High Caliber. The menthol gives the most TH for me. I also cut this a bit with VG to make it approx 19-20mg and add to the vapor. If I cut it down to 18mg, it doesn't seem to have the same kick.
Maybe try something higher strength and if it's to strong, cut it yourself. If you have the time and inclination you could start making your own e-juice. Lots of information on ECF about DIY e-liquids.
You could be assured of consistency by mixing it yourself and not have to rely on manufacturers who are on the other side of the globe.

One thing not yet discussed in this thread is the voltage also having a impact on TH. I generally, but not exclusively, vapt at 6 volts - you sure do get TH then, with just about anything! someone juices are great at 6 volts some really do taste a little burnt. I think one of existing or coming (very) soon VV devises might be something for you to consider. I also was a pack a day smoker - Good Luck and really, have fun!

Gromit,

You could always go to a 80/20 blend to get more vapor and then add a few drops of vodka to your juice to give it more throat hit in the inhale. I've never added vodka though so I don't know how much is needed!

Lori

Adding vodka for TH is a myth. It doesn't work. Throat hit = warmth of vapor (more volts/less resistence) and nicotine strength.

4.5 volt to 5.0 volt seems to be the optimum vaping level for best TH without the burning at the 6 volt level.

The higher the nicotine level the better the throat hit. For a pack a day smoker, I always recommend 24mg. Many use 36mg. Plus vaping is far less efficient in nicotine absorption than smoking. But the biggest part of better thoat hit is warmth of the vapor which translates to more power. I would suggest you look into a good 5 volt PV such as the GLV2 from Great Lakes Vapor or a good variable volt PV.

Weird, call them. Their customer service is good, and they need to know if there was a problem with their mix.

The vapor bomb order was strange. The first bottle I got from them had a yellow color, plus a great flavor. This bottle is clear and has a horrible chemical taste along with no throat kick. I've had it over 2 weeks now. Just dripped some in my 510 and yep.. still tastes like A@@
