I'd like to acquire the ASH membership roster and send a form letter to each member asking them if they know that they are members of a hate group who's intervention in this radical new "therapy" for smokers will result in hundreds of thousands of deaths per year.

I'd also ask them if their mission is to alleviate smokers of the peril they are largely helpless to avoid... or kill them off.

But if I did such a thing I'm afraid ASH's Grand Dragon Banzhaf and his minions would show up in hoods and burn a cross on my lawn.

We've seen this before. This megalomaniac must be stopped before they cart us off to the camps in railroad cars.

Too bad it's Chantix, not Champix. Comes across as ill-informed.

(trade name Chantix in the USA and Champix in Europe and other countries)

Interestingly, the FDA refused to approve Pfizer's use of the name "Champix" asserting that from a promotional perspective, "it is overly fanciful and overstates the efficacy of the product"

You should do a little research before you comment. You come across ill-informed.

Clearly I was ill-informed, but why would I think that they'd make such a minor change like that? I was prescribed the drug here in America, so I knew that it was Chantix. It didn't seem to warrant research.

Chantix has huge, and horrible potential side effects. A quick search provided this site : Chantix Label Updated To Warn Of Suicide Risk

(hopefully the link works. newbie here sorry)

But the article says quote: "Pfizer, who make the smoking cessation drug Chantix (varenicline), have updated the drug's labelling in the United States to reflect the fact patients may experience "serious neuropsychiatric symptoms", including suicidal behaviour."

Dugg it.

I was going to add that Chantix made me psychotic and I submitted a report to FDA about it, but I didn't want to see this thread go off topic. I have added back that comment since my post was too short without it.

I had a very similar experience with Chantix. And over a year later, i STILL hear people say to me "have you tried Chantix?" or "if you really wanna quit smoking you should try Chantix," then when i tell them i tried it and what happened, the singular response is ":|...oh." It never ceases to amuse me

But now i have a friend who's worried about me vaping and asked me if i ever tried to just quit cold turkey, as if the thought never crossed my mind at all.

End of derailment, back to topic: um, what was the topic?...

Oh yeah :pASHholes, now i remember ;). But seriously, this is exactly what we're up against here. A public who puts all their faith into the most dangerous and ineffective quitting methods just because they believe that consuming nicotine will give you cancer just like smoking. All i have to say is, thanks a lot ASHhole! I sure hope articles like this become more mainstream and actually begin showing up in the american press. This is what the public needs, a tall frosty glass of TRUTH:pop: let the games begin!
