More flavor with a mod vs. ego?

First, I hope I have the lingo right. Fairly new to vaping. I only have a couple of Joytech Ego-T's and use cartomizers and sometimes clearomizers. I find that I don't get consistent flavor, even just from hour to hour, all the time; and sometimes it's just not enough flavor for me (and I've got some awesome liquids!) If I get a mod (I want a cool, pretty, one... like the Smoktech SID (pretty colors...oooo!), SMOKTech SID Ecig Mod Variable Volt & Watt and tanks like the MOKTech Pyrex Glass DCTank V1~6ml, would that help me get more / better flavor?

Open to any suggestions for graduating to a mod. I don't want anything to heavy. If that's the way to get more flavor.

    Hi Postergirl.

    Welcome and great name.

The SID would be just as good as any mod in that class; Vamo, Evic, Lavatube. I just got the Innokin SVD, and it's kind of heavy since it's stainless. Having owned a few Twists and iTaste v3 and MVP, I can say moving to a 6v-15w device pushes the limit of my 3.0 ohm cartos with room to spare.

The carto tank you mention would be a good entry level, dual coil set up. I've heard the tank part can be kind of slidey. I just ordered one of these tanks and am anxious to see how well it performs.

    Complete Tanks

For the best flavor, people here will tell you to get a good atomizer or a rebuildable to drip onto, but the dual coils will definitely help. The carto tank will continuously feed your carto to prevent it from tasting bad like right before you need to top it off again.

Thank you! Once again I'm so impressed with the thoughtful and quick replies to my (and everyone's) questions here. I'm still unclear about "ohm's" and there are places online that use cartomizers and atomizers interchangeably so it's all a bit confusing. So are you saying that if I get a Smoktech SID or one of the other ones you listed, with a cartomizer as shown in the link, that would be all I need?

    Short answer is Yes.

I would suggest you consider MVP V2 (40 bucks) + Protank 2 (mini or fullsized)...

MVP V2 and cartotank will also do the trick.

Reason for VV/VW mod (variable Voltage/wattage) is that you are able to adjust the power out put to suit your coil (Ohm) and your ejuice's characteristics. That does not mean that you should throw away your ego batteries. They are great with lower Ohm tanks (eg. EVOD with 1.5 Ohm coil heads). They give great vape and good for short drive to take with me.

    Have fun.

A mod allows one more potential for a greater vape than any ego battery possibly could. But any standard atomizer is basically going to be the same on and ego as it would be on the most expensive mod out there. With a mod, regulated, mechanical, and high amp regulated, you have the power to push a re-buildable atomizer to it's highest potential given the power available.

It all depends on where you want to take your vape and what you are willing to do to get there.

    Vape long and Prosper!!

If you've been using cartomizers already, then you know how they work. If not, let us know.

Get the Handy Refilling Drip Tip/Tool to easily slide in your carto and it is also used to fill the tank without flooding the carto. They have the punched dual coils cartos there, but I use Boge 3.0 ohm single coil, and usually punch them myself.

The higher ohms let you enjoy your juice at higher volts/watts without burning, lower ohms get hotter quicker, thus requiring lower voltage/watts.

These clearomizers (Protank, evod, vivi nova) out now with the 1.8 -2.2 ohm heads don't keep up in the wicking department, so I am always needing to be mindful of that.

Interesting topic. Some really strange answers though.

eGos and Mods are just batteries. Unless you're putting your battery in your mouth they do not affect the flavor at all.

What does affect the flavor is the topper which can be tailored to provide basically the exact same flavor for any battery you put under it. Mods will allow you to adjust the power on the fly, but the end result can be equally achieved with an eGo and a properly tailored coil. Ultimately what you are trying to achieve is a topper with a coil that heats up to X temperature. How that temperature is achieved is irrelevant, you can do it by adjusting the power of the mod or by using a coil that produces that temperature on whatever battery you use. Either way produces the same end results.

Mods don't make anything taste better, all they do is make it easier to make changes to the operating temperature of the coil, but those changes do not require a mod to make them.

You're good on the lingo. People either say MOD or APV (advanced personal vaporizer). And yes, you'll definitely get a better vape experience over the basic ego style battery.

I also own a SID, but it's a pretty paper weight at this point. It gave me problems after about a month of use. Mainly, the button became finicky and would go into the menu options instead of firing. I had to be conscience of how I pressed it when I wanted to take a vape. Plus, I noticed a change in the vapor production as the battery drained. As far a form factor it's was bit large in 18650 mode for my taste. To give you perspective, compare an ink pen to an average tube flashlight.

There used to be an 18350 version available (for a smaller form factor) but I'm not sure if it's still available. It was kind of hard to find back when I bought mine. However, in that mode the battery life won't be very long.

I would recommend to keep looking but ultimately the decision is yours. Personally, I felt the SID was a waste of my money. There are other mods out there in a similar price range that are better. If you want something pretty, wraps are available to dress up just about any mod. Just my 2c.

    Respectfully dissagree.
That's the same as saying we can't get as good a vape from a ChiYou, Caravela, Nemesis, or any other fixed voltage PV. You can get every bit as good a vape from an ego type battery provided that you know how.
So the real question is 'why would you want to'?

Oh no... how long did it last?

It still worked when I retired it. I just got tired of playing with that finicky button. I had to press the button just right in order for it to fire instead of going into the menu options. I used it about a month when that started happening.

Not long then. Sorry to hear that..... I've been thinking my SID was working out good value, but if these are going bad, that's not a good sign.
Could you not have sent it back after just a month?

I respectfully agree to disagree. I never stated that a good vape couldn't be achieved with any other fixed voltage device. I specifically said ego style batteries as that was MY experience.

Furthermore, the OP asked about apv's with vv/vw not mechs. If it had been a mech related question, I wouldn't have commented as I have no experience with them.

'Why would I want to' is subjective. What keeps me off analogs may not be the same for someone else.

Welcome Postergirl. i totally agree with you about it being a bit confusing. there's so much to explore. been vaping for 9 months and only recently graduated from regular ego to ego twists and spinners and learning the differences between ohms for my coil heads. but if ya wanna learn new stuff this is definitely the place to do it.

No, the vendor I bought it from only gave a 30 day warranty. Maybe I just had bad luck but hopefully you'll have a better experience.
