I'm not even clicking that. the titles got me ...... enough already.... although I will say, snus has got to be pretty damn bad for your gums, better than smoking I'm sure, but every time I use it for more than three days in a row, my gums feel swollen and my gums get kind of torn up. it's fine the next day if I stop using it, but there's no way I do it every day! I NEVER, EVER have that problem with dissolvables though, dissolvables can't be any worse than those nicorette lozenges.

Dr. Brad Rodu did an article about snus usage and gum disease -- Tobacco Truth: Snus Use and Gum Disease: No Association

hmmmmmm.... do my gums just need to get used to it then? because like I said, I never get ANYTHING bad out of using dissolvables, maybe it's just all the salt? I mean I just use General's dry mini mint, but still, all snus has a lot of salt, so maybe my gums just don't like that. but yeah this "tobacco candy" bullishh has gotta stop, I'll bet you money if a kid put a stone wall in their mouth, they'd spit it out right away, the only thing I can think of that tastes sweet without you acquiring a taste for it is cinnamon ariva......... and nobody sells that. as for camel's stuff, I've never tried it myself, but knowing RJR, I bet it tastes just like somebody took a batch of natural flavored stonewall and dumped a truckload of sugar and a little sprinkle of coffee in it..... in other words pretty overpowering and gross and not something a kid would want, right?

Boy I just hate articles like this. Here we go with the kiddies again. Most youngsters that I know don't smoke and wouldn't even consider it. They all were happy that I finally stopped. As for cigars, cigarillos, and the likes...most kids don't want these anyway and it's illegal to sell to them. What birdbrain came up with this story?

As a constant, daily, continuous (how else can I put it other than I sleep with a portion in) user for a year and 8 months, I can tell you that the dentist has had nothing but praise for how my gums are doing since I quit smoking. I had developed a perio issue from 43 years of smoking so they see me every three months. They've been amazed at the improvement.

Oh, before you get the wrong idea, I only use 4-5 portions a day. I'm just used to the feel of a portion under my lip at this point so I just leave the portion in until I want a new one.

Lets see, I can get a bag of 500 tootsie rolls at Wallmart for $2.99 that will take care of every brat that knocks...

I can spend that $2.99 for 15 snus... that *I* want to use - I don't want to give them to my friends let alone your brat... That would only take care of 15 brats anyway even if someone were that stupid. 20 smokes in a pck @ $12 a pack that would take care of 20 brats... yeah it makes perfect sense that is, if you were dropped on the head repeaidly as a child.

Sugar is cheap, tobacco is not... I mean honestly now... *shakes his head*

When I smoked I hated even giving *A* cig to someone who asked for one, let alone giving away multiples :blink:
This has to be the most ......ed story I think I've read in quite awhile.
:laugh::rolleyes::facepalm:

It reminds me of "moral panic" stories of the past, most of which had little if any basis in reality. Like stories of adults giving doses of acid to unsuspecting kids outside schools through fake 'tattoos'. It didn't really happen, although at one time it was widely believed it did..

And then there was the 1936 "...... Madness" movie. ...... Madness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I know, when I heard that I hunted down and licked every fake tattoo I could find and never once saw any purple elephants :(

It's far more likely you are having gum problems because of the mint flavor and not the snus. I have problems with the mint and even the wintergreen if I use to much. Try some of the more straight unflavored snus and see if that helps.

As for the subject at hand this part is of interest

Tobacco Free Florida (TFF) is a statewide cessation and prevention campaign funded by Florida’s tobacco settlement fund. The program is managed by the Florida Department of Health, specifically the Bureau of Tobacco Prevention Program. TFF’s mission is to combat the pervasive problem of tobacco use in the Sunshine State, where each year, more than 28,000 Floridians die from smoking and tobacco-related diseases cost the state an estimated $19.6 billion in healthcare costs and lost productivity.
So we get another government funded program (actually funded by smokers via settlement money) working against the public health and smokers. It's amazing how much bad information and propaganda they managed to print in one article.
