So I am getting ready to purchase two new Ego kits when I suddenly thought maybe I want to step up the voltage. So far I have only tried the Ego and the Vaporking. I want a easy to use, with a direct drip atomizer set up, long life battery at more then 3.7 volts. What should I buy?? I know there is a lot of info on here but I get confused. Tell me what would work and where to buy it!

It would be nice if it came with a adapter so I can use my cartomizers too like the Ego does.

The best way to "step up the voltage" is to LOWER the resistance in your atomizer. Thus, you can still use your eGo but have the extra vapor heat and TH that comes with a likewise high voltage mod.

Fast, easy and it won't cost much at all. The performance difference is off the charts.

In fact, PureSmoker sells their eGo kits with a regular AND a LR atomizer.

Good luck.

I thought LR attys were for higher voltage units. Thanks for filling me in!

How do I do that??

There are new devices coming onto the market that do it , I cannot say. you have to look around. Goto e-Cig Battery Tube Mods | eCigarette-Mods.com
this is a mods database , look at the specs on the left of each device .

LR atomizers are for 3.7 volts or a standard battery , HR ( hi resistance ) attys are for Hi Voltage devices I.E. 6 volts etc.

Well, that's the reason why I brought up the LRs, Glow. There's no need to buy anything other than what you have (or are considering buying re: your opening post). High voltage mods range from around $100 - $200. Then you're looking at using HV atomizers and depending on the mod, stacking batteries which can be a safety concern. Invariably, what happens after one buys all that stuff he/she realizes (like some people do) that high voltage makes liquid taste burnt.

So, the LR atty at about $8 gives the feeling for high voltage vaping at a fraction of the cost.

Thanks. I think I will go with the low resistance atomizers and check out a variable volt buzz. I like the way my juice tastes now and want to keep it that way.

Oh Just FYI the Buzz has 5 safety features that make stacking batteries a moot point. I have been using the Buzz for over 2 months now and all my other devices sit on the shelf. I wished it would have been available when I started vaping because then I wouldn't have needed all these other ones. It lets me vape at 3.7 all the way to 6volts and anywhere in between. However if money is an issue the lr atties will let you achieve your objective. Lastly might I mention a 5 volt passthrough as an option. They are only $15.00 at Madvapes.

15 bucks to try 5 volts sounds like a good deal to me. I am going to go ahead and order the ego kits, some LR attys and a pass through. Thanks for all of the info, it's much appreciated.

Buzzkill is correct that an adjustable voltage mod (such as his own Buzz) will allow you to set the voltage (and the resultant power, i.e., watts) exactly to your liking.

However, such a device (or any higher voltage mod) will be considerably larger than the eGO (and more expensive). Not ungainly: there are so many of us here on ECF who love our large mods. But, if you like the size of the eGO, an LR atomizer may be the way to go. I suggest that you try an LR atty that is somewhat lower than the standard 510's 2.3 ohms, e.g., Ikenvape's or Indy Vapor Shop's 2.0 ohm 510 attys, rather than plunging down to 1.5 ohms right away.

And, before getting just two more 650 mAh eGOs, check out the 750 mAh Riva and 1200 mAh Hello 016 ... or the new 900 mAh mega eGO batteries.

BTW, you mentioned wanting to use your cartomizers. Since you have the Vapor King, I assume that at least some of those cartomizers are Kr8. CigEasy has just come out with a 750 mAh eGO-like PV for Kr8 cartomizers, called the Elegant. You can read my review of it here. The voltage is about the same as the eGO, although the mAh is somewhat higher. It also works with the 901 atomizer (no adapter needed) and the 510 (with adapter). Both fit in the Elegant's cone. I'm often using it with the 801 atty (with adapter), although it won't fit in the cone.

And even a true 3.7V PV might meet your needs. Have you ever tried using your 510 atomizer (with a 901-to-510 adapter) on a fully charged Vapor King battery? Such a battery starts out at 4.2V, appreciably more than the eGO's 3.4V. If you like it, you might like a 3.7V mod (many of which are smaller than high- or variable-voltage mods).

You can explore the world of mods with ViZi's comprehensive guide, the Custom Mods portion of which describes the eGO and its cousins (but does not yet include the Elegant).

Good info but, I didn't recognize you Don! Change it back!

My old avatar is now in my signature banner, so that's how you can tell it still really is me. [I could sing, I suppose.:D]

Buzz, I wish I knew what you meant by "*(%($*^_^ J/K". My guess is that you found him to have a more "interesting" look than my real life photo. [Actually, normally I'm scruffier looking than that ... and do not wear a suit and tie.]
