Hello.
As the title says, I'm looking for the most reliable tank to get to use long term as a smoking alternative.
Currently I have a OMAX mod which I'm happy with, with an Aspire Nautilus tank system with the bottom vertical coils (both genuiene). The Nautilus is a complete disaster, onto my 4th coil, all of which have leaked badly within 2 days of use. I've tried all the suggestions of how to fix over the past few weeks with no luck, and am happy to forget this tank now for good, so please don't give suggestions on how to fix it (I've already tried them all).
As a replacement, I'm looking for a much more reliable tank system to use with my mod. I'm considering buying a nautilus mini, as they seem to not leak as often, but with this said, some reviews say that the BVC coils give dry hits and don't last very long.
After hearing this I'm not sure what tank to buy. I'm looking for a tank that is reliable, and will last long without needing to replace coils often, or the whole tank.
Thank you for your help,
Lewis.

You're describing a rebuildable tank system.

That being said I've been using Nautilus Minis and a full size Nautilus on and off ever since they came out. I've never had problems, it's all about using them correctly. I've never had one leak, and almost never gotten dry hits off a BVC coil if using a proper juice. You MUST use thinner juices with these tanks. 50 % pg 50% vg is a good place to start. The more vg the thicker the juice will be. I tried 100% vg just for kicks once. It was a joke, every hit was burnt, because these coils aren't designed to wick thick liquid quickly. That's just the way it is.

If you're having leaking issues with a Nautilus and you're filing it correctly and not getting and juice down the chimney and not subjecting it to changes in temperature or atmospheric pressure then there is something wrong with the tank. A torn or split rubber bottom gasket maybe. I think this happens a lot because people screw the tank together dry and the glass grabs the rubber gasket and can split or tear it. Always lube gaskets like that with a little liquid.

A lot of people also complain about the life span of the coils. It all depends on the juice you use and how much you vape. Dark, sugary juices destroy coils. It's a fact. They do it much quicker than clearer juices. If that is something you're worried about vape clean, clear juices.

Well I can't speak for these latest tanks cuase honestly their only a few months old. So longevity is unproven, really.

I will ask if you have given any thought to rebuilding,I'm not pushing it but its something to consider. There is a tank called a Kayfun and some people, including me have tanks several years old still working like new. With a silica wick I can go a couple weeks without a problem, and when it does get gunked up you don't even need to replace it, just clean it real quick and keep going.

When I switched to the Nautilus I had alot of problems. Every known issue put a couple that only seemed to happen to me.

But when it worked I loved how it made juice taste and how easy it is to fill and carry.

I went through coils at an alarming rate.

And then I learned the way of the Nautilus. And haven't had a problem since. It never floods or gurgles. Coil life is weeks.

I have some RBA's for blowing clouds. Its alot of fun. Flavors isn't as good so I do it for fun. Also have afew RTA's which are a ton of fun to build and change things to get what I want. I will also be adding more of both.

But the Nautilus is my go to. Its fast and easy and the flavor is very good. Life has been very good to me and I am able to absorb the staggering 14 cents a day cost of coils, however I don't judge those who are unable to take on that kind of expense.

So I vote you try and save the Nautilus. Its always possible you got a bad tank. I am responsible for maintaining about 15 Nautilus and while most problems are user caused and I can fix them and explain how to prevent them there was a tank I could not save and it was purchased locally and the replaced it.

I have had very good luck with the protank 3 and the mini protank 3 I found RTAs a little too finicky for my taste and get great coil life with the protanks but i'm using 80/20 PG/VG and found that I get better coil life than when I was using 50/50 juice. coil life is good even on my MT3s and GS-H2 tanks none of these tanks are very expensive

I'm going to give you a suggestion anyways.

TURN THE POWER UP.

Everything you're describing is common to someone trying to use the Nautilus in the 8-12W range. That's not nearly enough power and the result is it can only convert part of the liquid to vapor while the rest builds up until it either floods and leaks through the bottom or spits out the top. The coils also burn out a lot faster because they're being overworked trying to heat up more liquid than they can handle at such a low temp.

The Nautilus really doesn't work well at anything under 15W with the BVC coils, which means your mod at the absolute highest setting can just barely handle it. I use mine at 19W with a 50/50 juice and never have a problem. I vape about 5-6ml per day and a single coil lasts me a month or more. Before you give up on the Nautilus try cracking your mod to it's 15W max and see if it works better.

I'm aware of juices having an effect on the tank and tend to usually buy 50/50 juices, if not 60/40 VG/PG, but this is also my issue, I aim to have a tank that can manage a bit more VG, which off puts me from buying a nautilus mini.
I have replaced O-Rings in my coils as well as adding an extra near the other thread, so this is definitely not the issue. I've seen online many people get the same problem with the nautilus and as I said I'm happy to let it go.
As for the dry hits, I replaced my coil about an hour ago and let it soak for about 10 mins before use, for the first time I felt the dry hits for the 30/40 mins I was using it so left it to soak more for another hour, now using it, it feels much better, maybe it just takes a while to soak on these coils?

Yes, I've been using it at 10.5 watts most of the time, so I'll try cranking it up to 15 and see if that helps.
The only thing that confuses me is that even after cleaning out the whole tank and putting the coil back in, it's straight onto leaking, it seems as if only when I'm putting power in which seems strange.
It's just leaked a bunch more so I'm gonna get a little juice out of the chimney and give it a go at 15 watts.

I'll throw another vote to the Kayfun. I have 2 Kayfun lites that I have been using everyday for the last 9 months. I think they've both been using the same coil for at least 5 months...I just dry burn them and rewick with cotton every couple of weeks. I only use unflavored liquid, so my coils probably last longer than most.
