In June, I'm planning a bike trip to North Carolina. I'll be taking my kgo, volts, and some juice with me. I have a bag I strap to the back of the bike, and I was wondering about any issues with heat? On the bike, there is no way to get out of the sun; will tis negatively effect my e-juice.

I'm thinking your liquids will be just fine, but if you are really concerned, you might find a small insulated bag you can put an ice pack in to pack inside your bike bag to keep your e-liquids and other liquids cool, such as water for the ride or whatever. Or, maybe you can wrap an ice pack to just add to the bag next to any liquids. Someone else may have some other suggestions for you.

And, welcome to ECF, Aceclassic79!

+1 for insulated bag.

There is an issue with juices and solar light. Unless there is some organic, perishable component in them, the juices should be fine with some heat, but light destroys nicotine.

There is a bigger issue with heat and batteries. Never leave batteries exposed to sunshine for long periods of time, and do not let them overheat. Heat decreases a battery's capacity (it will discharge faster) and direct exposure may cause batteries to melt / leak / explode depending on their chemistry. This is even more significant for car people and leaving them inside, but I guess it's relevant to you, too.

I've got a leather tank bag that A: keeps them outta the sun and 2 keeps them away from engine heat.

Worked just fine for my trip!

GB - 3 Pocket Gun Bag Magnetic Leather Tank Bag

nice little accessory, good quality goat leather and a very decent price!

Magnets are strong enough to hang my ego 18650 mod+ clearo plus a loaded Colt defender to the bike....It keeps the cig right where you want it (in hands reach) and for the money its a good value. IMG-20120429-00014.jpg

I have a friend who vapes while he rides. They make lanyards for the Ego kits. You could wear the Ego around your neck on the lanyard so you can vape and ride.

I have a full face helmet for travel, and no windshield. With a 70mph wind, I think I'll wait for a stop!

You lucky dog you. I took a trip like that back in 1979 to the Smoky Mntns. I usually had an insulated cooler with a couple beers in it, but I guess times have changed.

Usually go about every 1-2 years. Meet up with an Internet forum for my bike. Should be hitting the Tale of the Dragon (318 curves in 11 miles). We have guys come from Toronto to Texas. I think Missouri is the farthest west. It's a great group of folks, and always have a good time. It would be difficult to create another trip like it.

Come to think of it, the heat only Made my cigars a slightly dry, so I think I should be all right with the e-cigs.

Been there, done it, got my dragon stickers and ground down some peg feelers. Next time I'll be packing vaping gear for sure. Perhaps configure a 'vaping helmet'.
There are so many good roads in the area the Tail is only the tip of the iceberg. Lots of access roads coming off the Blue Ridge that resemble baby dragon tails. Had more fun on those actually and there is usually no traffic on them. Largely undiscovered gems.

Went down to Maggie valley two years ago. The twisters where not banked as much as the dragon; but road for about 40 miles in Virginia , that was every bit as challenging (actually too challenging for too long). Just happened to find it on my way there. Personally, down that way, I like the cherahola skyway.

Hey I'm jealous!! What am I doing just sitting here? The only issue that I have come across is that I use a tank system, the J-Tank. The heat and vibration forces extra liquid into my slotted carto's creating a flooded draw, juice in the mouth and leakage at the 510 connection. Almost any type of tank system will probably do this. If you use just the carto you should be vaping in tall cotton! Enjoy!

Good point,

I have a smoktek DCT, I'll make sure it's near empty before the trip.

Yea, I guess that would be hard. I think it's easy for my buddy because he only wears one of those dome helmets that probably won't protect him worth a damn if he goes down.

Yes, I know people who smoke on the bike, but they all have windshields. I'm used to waiting for a gas break (100mi). With vapeing it should be even easier

I used to smoke while riding with a full face helmet. Vaping should be a piece of cake. No ashes in the eyeball either. They do make either a PV with a long, flexible gooseneck. Or maybe its an attachment. That would create some interesting possibilities.

If anyone could find a link for such an attachment it would be useful, thanks. I could not locate one but I swear I've seen something like that....somewhere. In the absence of this I was thinking of fashioning something out of drip tips, flexible tubing and use my automatic Volt X2 battery for a hands-free vape while on 2 wheels.
