Im 200 miles north of Mt. Rushmore. Ive been there a time or two! Going down to Rapid City with the kids is a blast for them. Bear Country, Reptile Gardens, Flintstone Park, Story Book Island. All the stuff for kids!
We really enjoyed it. I didn't think I would be impressed with Mt. Rushmore, boy was I wrong. We also went to Deadwood, and a few other places and also saw Crazy Horse memorial, they blasted while we were there, that was cool. Too bad I wont live long enough to see it completed.

The Crazy Horse Memorial is just, well crazy! Did you take the tour type thing while you where there? Where they tell the history of it. It is/was mainly one guy doing all they work! (Not sure if its change since then or not.)

This Day in History

At 8:32 a.m. PDT, Mount St. Helens, a volcanic peak in southwestern Washington, suffers a massive eruption, killing 57 people and devastating some 210 square miles of wilderness.

Did you know there is an artist in Washington that makes figures out of the ash from Mount St. Helens? They are pretty neat.

Yes we took the tour, it was very interesting. I liked deadwood also but I donated to their economy too. Also like the Black Hills, reminded me of the Smoky Mountains. (we vacation there often)
