I know it's kind of soon to be posting another movie quiz, but I wanted to put one up in honor of Veteran's Day. So, perhaps predictably, this one's all about war movies.

*****

The thread will run its course for a week or so, and I'll bump it with hints and whatnot as needed. Answers will be posted when the time feels right.

There are eight screenshots below. Most of them should be fairly recognizable if you've seen the films. So, which of these movies can you identify?

Please answer with movie numbers only, not titles..

Good luck!

I'm gonna try something a little different this time around.... Sound clip hints!

#1: click

#2: click

#3: click

#4: For this one, the sound clip doesn't identify the movie quite as well as the others. So, I'll add that this 1979 comedy was directed by Steven Spielberg, and starred John Belushi (pictured), Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Nancy Allen, Treat Williams, and a host of other very familiar names, including Slim Pickens as Hollis Wood.

:D

Hints, Part 2: The "better late than never" edition.

#5: Steven Spielberg directed this 1998 WWII movie. Pictured left to right in the screenshot: Tom Sizemore, Barry Pepper, Jeremy Davies, Tom Hanks, and Adam Goldberg.

#6: Donald Sutherland, Clint Eastwood, and Telly Savalas and their group of US soldiers sneak into Germany to steal a massive stash of Nazi gold.

#7: The symbolic little girl in the red coat provides one of only a scant few splashes of color in this black and white, 1993 Holocaust film. Spielberg took home the Best Director Oscar for the production, while both Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson received Oscar nominations for their performances.

#8: I'll make this one really easy: This 1970 Robert Altman comedy was made into an award-winning, long-running TV series starting in 1972. But, it's the character names that should definitely give this away. Seated left to right are Trapper John, Hot Lips, and Hawkeye.

Hope these helped!
