USP = pharma grade? is this correct?

I spoke to a rep at essential depot, and despite the fact that they sell USP PG and VG, she told me they are NOT pharma grade.

She linked me to an MDS, where the VG was listed as 100% VG (in ingredients), and the PG was listed as 99-100% PG.

I asked her if this implied 100% and 99-100% purity, respectively (duh). She said yes it does.

Then I asked what the difference was between a 100%/99-100% pure USP VG/PG and a pharma grade?

She said she didn't know.

So what's going on here?

If i understand correctly, USP simply refers to a purity standard set by the United States Pharmacopeial Convention - see United States Pharmacopeia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

"pharma grade" is pretty meaningless, in legal terms of there being any kind of guarantee of quality and seems to be more of a marketing term that implies suitability for medicinal use.

While I may be off base here(gr.12 educated) my theory on the 99-100% USP ratings
for PG & VG. may have to do with the nature of PG being an humectant so
it attracts moisture.

So unless it is produced and kept in a vacuum(tank) it will contain water. Non USP grade
water? LOL.

Don't laugh too loudly at me it's past my bedtime!
Probably shouldn't post with the "heavy hitters"!
