I am slowly going deaf so I had inner ear surgery to restore some hearing. Its a little rough in regard to recovery. No balance and really dizzy. Hopefully a few more days I will be feeling a little better.

Damn bro! That doesn't sound like much fun at all. I didn't know there was any kind of surgery they could do for hearing loss. Mine has been going down hill for some time now and I have Tinnitus in my left ear.
It's kinda nice when the wife is yelling at me (which is most of the time) But it really sucks in the woods hunting. I can set in a tree and watch squirrels rustling around in the leaves right below me and I can't hear them any more. I've had several deer walk up 15 yards behind me and never knew they were there until I caught movement with my eyes.

Sucks to get old. Shut up Eln.

If its conductive hearing loss they can fix it with a stapendectomy. Thats what I had done. Theres also a new surgery for nerve damage that involves implanting a microchip in your ear. Its fairly successful. I had 40% hearing left and provided this surgery is fully successful I should have 80-95% in that ear. They wont do the other ear for 6 months.

I had no idea about these hearing surgeries. Thanks for the info. I have been wearing very expensive hearing aids for several years now. I would love to hear again without them....i'll check into it.

I haven't gone to a specialist since I was a kid. My parents had tubes put in when I was 14 because I had severe ear aches all the time. Back then it wasn't simple out patient surgery like they do now-a-days. I was in the hospital for a couple days I think. The way they do it now is about the same as having your ears pierced. LOL
I know they've come a long way in the medical field in the past 30+ years and I've thought about going in and having them figure out exactly what is wrong. I'm guessing that it's from a few to many Ozzy and AC/DC concerts in my younger days and waaaaay to many bang bangs without having hearing protection on. It would be nice if they could make the ringing stop but I don't see that happening from what I've read up on it.

I hope it works out perfectly for ya Rup. Can you hear any better yet or is that going to take some time?
