I always did straight lung his with ego stocks, due to low power, felt like I need to suck them till they cut out to get a decent hit, then I switched to mods I always have used rdas, so of course lung his there also.
I just got my new subox mini kit and am loving it,btw. I've been doing lung his on that as well, but reading around has made me interested in mtl hits.
so,I would like some recommendations here as to power, and build to get a good result. At low power I don't feel like I get much out of it, and I'm scared to just go cranking up the watts with such little air flow.
how do you guys set your power, and could? Especially those with the same setup.
and I know preference, but some reference points would be great. Thank you

You could also make a twisted coil for some extra flavor if you're bored and have a drill laying around.

The problem with building high ohm coils in a tank like a subtank is that it has a very wide chimney, and the vapor won't be dense at all. It's not made with flavor in mind at all. It's a cloud chucker. A tank that's good for mtl would be a taifun gt2, or kayfun lite.

It seems you have lots of good recommendations here. I personally prefer spaced coils in my RTAs compared to micro coils. I get less spit back and popping out of them and the coils don't gunk up nearly as fast. But I've had the original Subtank since it came out so I have tried many different builds in it. Try them all out, see what you like - micro coils, standard coils, dual coils, regular Kanthal, twisted Kanthal.

I only mtl on my subtanks. I use the .5 ohm coil (factory or self build), and the single air hole. Probably the largest help for me was to change out the drip tip from the wide bore to a more narrow restrictive drip tip (like on the Nautilus Mini). I started with the 1.2 ohm coils and as I advance in my vape journey in lower ohms I just kept to the same technique. I chase flavor and am not interested in clouds, and for some reason I don't feel lung hitting is healthy , but thats just my opinion. I've also lowered my nic to under 3mg (1mg or zero mostly).

so, I changed out the coil in the subtank, ended up using a1.5 occ coil, the rba put of a horrid taste when I tried it. I believe it was machine pull, as I forgot to wash it first, and it was a taste I never experienced before. Washed it out and rebuilt, will try again tonight when my tank is dry. It is pretty wild how much better this coil works for this style of hit. It feels much more natural, and the vapor production is better at 15 watt than the .5 at 30 watt

Good. Keep at it. You'll get it straightened out in no time. Subohm is great, I do it all the time. But it's not for everybody. Some people like less power and I say vape on! You know you're doing it right if it keeps you off the sticks :)
