Ok first I’ll post what I would like the outcome to be. I want a multi color LED red/green LED in one bulb. Red for fire and green for power on. Ok after lots of research I know that I need at least a 220 Ohm resistor, but the main thing is I have found two mainly different types of LEDs one with 2 legs and one with 3 legs with a common cathode

I think both will work for what I want but I don’t know how to wire them. Also if I choose the 3 leg LED do I need 2 resistors? Also if you have power to the one leg (green for power) and you push the button for fire, are both LEDs lit up and the red one only shows through due to the darker color? Any help or suggestions would be most helpful
Thank you

Ok so I think I have my answer but please check me on this. I do not want the 2 leg LED due to it not working for what I’m doing. With the 3 leg LED I would use 1 wire and resistor for green anode, 1 wire and resistor for the red anode and 2 wires for the cathode. Or could I put one resistor on the common cathode then 2 wires? From what I can gather the green LED (power) will be on all the time (while the safety switch in on) and the red one will come on only when the addy fire button is pressed but the LED will look YELLOWish due to both colors being on at the same time. Is that right? if that is the case how could I get the colors to be independent red or green with a 1 LED bulb

Pin 2 cathode is your common/negative from the battery. Pin 1 is positive from the switched side on your separate on/off switch w/ resistor in series. Pin 3 is the positive from the switched side of your button to fire the atty w/ resistor in series.

Yes you can use one resistor on the common instead of 2 on the positives.
