Okay, so two consecutive letters is the last-resort minimum, but the fuller the match the better. And become friends w/ the "search thread" tool. I'm being redundant because I don't think a few new music fanatics should be discouraged from trying their hand at this more challenging music game, too.

There ya go Infernal, one small point we just bold the word or letters that pertain to the word you're playing off of and if you don't want to bold at all thats ok. I always try to. And the two consective letter thing was really put in place as insurance not to get stuck, I think. But, some people use it more often than that.

ETA-
MK, two letters (as spacekitty indicated) or 3, like the other game, is really up to you, as your seniority has surely earned it. What do you think?

I perfer 3 but two is the custom so I'd say stick with (2)

SilverBear mentioned that bolding messes with the search results. Have you not found that to be true, MK?

Yes, I know he thinks that but I have not seen it. Plus SK and caffeinated continued to do it and I like it better, personally. But is it necessary, no.

I just tested that theory and SilverBear is 100% correct. It affects things when you use quotation marks in the search.

Example: search for "Chasing Colours" using the quotes. No results. Search without quotes and it comes up. That is because when you search using the quotes it is looking for Chasing AND Colours, but there is part of a bold tag in there. It looks like this to the search engine:
Code:
Chasing [B]Colours
So no match.

Anyway, I'll forgo using bold for the matching word(s) or letters and do CAPS instead (the search engine doesn't care about those).

"A SONG for Richard and His Friends" - Chicago

Poor quality video/audio protest song about Richard Nixon by iconic band Chicago. (Terry Kath's guitar solo is awesome and reminds me why Jimi Hendrix was inspired by him.)

Just for the sake of clarity, it's the quotation marks that confuses search (I figured that) adding more characters and not the bolding, so I would definately say don't use the marks. Again I have not seen a problem with bolding. It could be that thinking came from an early time and search programming has been refined, just a theory.

ETA- Thinking it over, I usually search song alone then search band. Maybe I will do the reverse order :)
