So, after being out of the e-cig game for about a year, I found myself dipping towards my mech the other day. Wasn't really looking for the nicotine as much as I was looking for the clouds and flavor. Silly me stored it about 6 months back with the atty still on with a build in it, so I tore it out and put in a new 22gauge single coil, only to find the whole mod shorting and not firing. So, in the market for a new mech, figured I'd look into a new atty as well.

Holy .... has the game changed in a year! I hear about this thing called a Plume Veil that is supposedly the end all be all of attys. Being me, I never buy authentic cause I just can't justify the price, and from what iI hear, the Acerig one is pretty good.

But, then out of the darkness, I hear about this sub $30 atty that supposedly makes cloud chasers wet dreams come true, and allegedly has flavor to boot! How can this be true, sounds like one of those pyramid schemes to me. But, alas, Rip says it's the best, and he says that about everything, so it must be true!

So, there's my dilemma. Sub $30 rda that will make my sub ohm coils breath fire while tasting delicious. Can it be true? Is it for real? And which one would do the best job at it?

Also, just heard of a 454 big block clone, any good?

I would say Mutation X. Not only because its a really good RDA, but due to it not being a clone as well as being affordable. Just something about supporting counterfeit work, I know not everyone is in a position to afford most authentic atomizers, but supporting companies that are counterfeiting people's hard work just sits the wrong way with me. Right now there are so many options for mid range authentic that don't break the bank.

The guy I talked to from VaporStation (where I ordered it from) told me that his RDA guy said by far the best RDA is the Orchid, which I have also heard amazing things about. I dont really like SUPER deep wells like the Magma. If it tips in my pocket if I fill it up then it's spilling out the AFC. I don't mind dripping because I sit at a desk at work,

Thanks for all the responses guys. Is the MX post holes large enough to do dual parallel builds? Thats one build I'm definitely looking forward to with my 26g Kanthal.

The Orchid is a tank system not a dripper and therefore is an RTA vs an RDA.

Absolutely! The MX's mounting holes are huge as expected because it is for blowing clouds. Take a look at bholcomb22's image above. If I'm not mistaken, he is using 26g with that build.

The Orchid is an RBA (kayfun style) of Atomizer. It does preform well for a kayfun style device. Can get a really nice draw with good cloud production compared to most tank atomizers. Completely different than an RDA, but none the less the Orchid is still a great piece.

Never said it wasn't. I have heard great things about the Orchid myself.

I guess I am just kind of a stickler for nomenclature.

Tanks and drippers are both considered RBAs (ReBuildable Atomizers). To differentiate between the two, drippers are RDAs (Rebuildable Dripping Atomizers) where as tanks are RTAs (Rebuildable Tank Atomizers).

That picture is actually 24 gauge and you can see how much dang room is still left. I guarantee you could do a dual parallel 22 gauge build in this thing.

My authentic Plume is definitely no slouch. It is a great atty producing great clouds and good flavor. However, I really hate how shallow the deck is on it. Way too much dripping for me. Plus, it leaked out of the neg post air holes. Excellent idea. Horrible implementation imo. The well on the MX is huge compared to the Plume.

The MX is so versatile with air flow. I only drip when home but it is all I use as soon as I arrive home after work or from the time I get up to the time I go to bed on the weekends.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought the MX and never purchased the Plume. The difference in price for me between the two was $90. Got the Plume for $115. Got the MX for $25. A no brainer really.

I concur...

It'll blow clouds till it runs out of juice and since most of the juice ends up on your Mod or hands.....

I will try to remember to post up an image of it when I get home this afternoon.

Well, it wasn't that afternoon but here are some pix of my MX build...

Got my Mutation X yesterday. Have been using a Acerig Plumeveil 1.5 clone. Bought a veritas to try and replace the plumeveil, but didn't like the draw restriction and wasn't getting much flavor at all. Put the mutation x together with 28 gauge twisted wire 5 wraps coming in at 0.35 ohms. Flavor is on par with the plumeveil and the clouds are actually much bigger. Love this thing! Looks pretty decent on my Changeling clone too :D

Took me a while to respond (forgot about this thread), but I still stand behind the Doge RDA.

It's cheap and it's a fantastic RDA, whether you're chasing clouds or just want a nice, warm, flavorful vape. I have a rather lengthy (yet informal) written review in my Blog Posts if you're interested.

It has been the only RDA I've used since I got it. Closing up the airholes works really nice, I've had it in single coil mode for a little while, and I even got one of those "Chuff Enuff" style topcaps if I really wanna blow some stupid big clouds. I use it most often at about the 50%-70% closed range (hard to really judge), because the flavor is really nice at around 4V (.3 ohms) and it's still good and plenty airflow to blow clouds (which I like doin').

Can't recommend it enough. It also looks pretty gosh-darn sexy, if you ask me.
