I bought two MVP 2.0 s when they came out, and have been using them ever since...
Now, both have problems. I will be vaping happily, and they will just quit. I can plug them in, and the display will light up with just some meaningless light...then I can set them and use them. Eventually, it happens again, either right away, or some time later.
When plugged in, they work fine.

Anyway, I'm not complaining...they have been great up to now.

What I'm wondering is, what is a good replacement now?

Sounds like the internal batteries of your MVP's have finished their lifetime. LiPo batteries only have a life expectancy of about 1 1/2 to 2 years.

There are now a slew of regulated box mods on the market. A few are mentioned in my blog (along with pics).

Decide how many watts you need, along with the aesthetics appeal you desire. You can now choose between the internal non-removeable battery;or a removeable 18650 battery which I strongly prefer. Therefore, when the battery dies you don't have to replace the entire mod, but just buy another $6 battery. You'll need to buy a $20 charger like a Nitecore or Xtar.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
I have a few MVP's and when i followed a routine of recharging at 3.7 volts instead of letting it run down further the mod has lasted much much longer than when i let the battery drain completely and then recharged it.

Lots of good mods out there , i like the MVP 20 watt mods , just more power but still cheap $$ wise . There are lots of great deals on mods now , are you looking for more wattage or plan on switching to a replaceable battery mod.

Many like iSticks but i have never been a fan . The Sigelei 75 watt temp controlled mod can be had for around $40.00 , many like that one , it takes a 18650 battery though and you would need a good charger .

I see Baditude is here so listen to him , he knows a hell of a lot more than i do and won't steer you wrong .

I used the MVP 2.0 when I first started and was very pleased with it. I switched to the MVP20 when it came out and I now have 3 of them. Very solid boxes and you don't have the extra height of the fixed ego adaptor. If you plan to continue vaping like you did with the 2's, you would be happy with them. They are already old technology so you can get them cheap. You may want to take a look at the Cool Fire devices. I have read a number of good reviews on them. At this point, I have switched mostly to replaceable battery mods like the Evic VTC Mini but still use the MVPs as backup. There are just too many choices now.
