My MVP 4 has started displaying "shorted". I'm using a super tank mini, I can unscrew it and fiddle with it then it'll work. I've cleaned the contact points on mod/tank and try not to screw it down too tight. Recently, with the past few coils they'll work fine for a 2-3 days then all of a sudden while taken a vape I'll hear a small pop and get a mouth full of burnt tasting vapor saying it shorted. Cotton is burnt after that. Is it the mod or the tank, never experienced anything like this before. Is it safe to continue using?

Thanks

If its shorted it's usually the coil or tank, it did the same thing with one of my Cleitos when I was using my mvp4 so I used my new cleito an it's fine now!
If you've tried new coils an cleaning the 510 an such I'd probably suggest getting a new tank, it sucks when this happens but gotta do what you gotta do.

If you hear a "pop" coil .most likely shorting or overheating to point of failure (wire element broken) AND you have burnt cotton ... I would test mod with other/different atty to see if you isolate problem to coils of mod.

Chances are you may have a bad batch of factory coils, or possibly clones not made to spec.

If you are running in TC (Temp Control) possible chance the wire selection or TCR (Temp Coefficient of Resistance) may not match the actual wire in coil(s).

Usually is the coil but can be the tank. I had to replace my cleito when mine kept shorting out, it's frustrating.

Not sure if this applies to your conditions, but any if those tank/coils that use those rubber insulator inserts and press fit connector pins ..., they are very susceptible to shorting through that rubber insert (especially if extra pressure is applied in tightening).

I have a few where I have pulled the factory coil/cotton out to replace with my own builds. Usually only get a 2-3 rebuilds max, sometimes none before shorting.

Unfortunately the cleito does have a rubber insert but I don't use it anymore since I went to MTL

While I don't have a Cleito, your comment appears to confirm my thoughts (rubber insulator compressing from over tightening causing a short).

First search result hit produced a video explaining this condition, and potential work-around (shimming tank base to reduce over compression issue).

Not saying this is the OP's condition, but supporting potential issue I have experienced with other atty's that use compressible insulators (rubber, etc.).

Unfortunately it's the most common e cig issue, but I've been lucky for it not to happen to me that much :)
