Hi Everyone,

My MVP V1 had the dreaded "button fell off" problem last night.

:(

Has anyone had any luck re-attaching it? It looks like plastic fatigue at a hinge point, which is not very amenable to a glue fix. I don't know if gluing it directly to the metal switch is appropriate, or safe since if done wrong, could lead to having the switch locked into the ON position.

Thanks,

Thanks for the posts!!!!

I feared this thread was headed to the dusty recesses of ECF...

:)

I was thinking about a tiny drop of super glue (and I mean tiny), right in the center of the metal switch, then put the plastic button cover thingy on it and hope for the best....

If that doesn't work, I'll have to write it off. innokin totally failed in the engineering of this switch IMHO.

On a related note, is the V2 switch more sturdy????

I used super glue and it worked but I lost all tactile feel on the button. Made it very hard to operate. Hate to say it but my best suggestion is to place the button over the hole and wrap it with a piece of packing tape. Ugly as sin but it should give you your best result. You could then put a wrap around the whole device to make it look half way decent.

The fire button on the V2 is much sturdier and they lightened it up since the first run so that it is much easier to push then when they first came out. It could still be better.

Thanks Capt!

By tactile feel, do you mean you can't tell when you're actually pressing it? Like in you can't feel a click?

I may super glue it, then PIF the thing....

I ordered a MVP V2, which should arrive Saturday. I really like having the MVP as my go-to device at home. I have "The Sickness", since I added a VV V3 to the order. Those will go alongside my VTR, eVic, and a herd of eGo batteries.....

I know its' wrong but I don't wanna be right...

:D

You cant find it or tell that your pushing it. I would try the tape first. Tape comes off, super glue, not so much.

I own a V2 for the very same reason. I use the VV3 most often because it is comfy in my hand. They compliment each other nicely but if I could only have one it would be the MVP.

Good news!

I bought a brand new tube of super glue, made sure I had the button oriented correctly, used a tiny, tiny spot of glue and placed the button. I waited about 30 seconds after centering the button in the hole and pushed firmly for about 15 seconds. I repeated two more times with a 10 minute wait in between.

The button feels exactly the same as it did before.

I will give it an overnight cure, and see if it holds.

We shall see......

Thanks everyone!

FYI, super glue sometimes has an issue using when some flex or give and take is required -- as it dries quite brittle. What you'll see is that it inexplicably and unexpectedly fails e.g. your button falls off. If this does happens, Gorilla Glue makes a super glue mixed with small strands of rubber to mitigate and is worth trying. Congratulations on the new mod! Cheers

I was able to sell the MVP v1. I used an entire charge on the super-glue repaired button, and it seemed to be holding. After I sold it, the new owner had the button fall off....

:(

He used tape, and is OK with it.

The advice to use glue with a little flex appears to be really good advice!

That will also fail eventually but should last 5-10 times longer. Best bet might (?) be a drop of silicone adhesive; that stays flexible for life. Though not as strong, it's probably strong enough. Vape on!

I'm a Yankee, believe me I tried a few things, and thought it through a lot but in the end a wrap of packing tape over the button and a J-wrap style body wrap to cover it all up is still your best bet.
