If you put a Kayfun on a ProVari, anything else is going backwards.

Until you build a mech mod and sub-ohm that Kayfun.

:p

ProVaris are nice, but there comes a point where you've got to ask "Am I spending money just for the sake of spending money?" Take a ProVari with a Kayfun and a $50 Hcigar Nemesis clone with the same Kayfun and you can only sub ohm on that Nemesis. You won't be blowing massive dragon clouds without sub ohming.

Obviously mech mods aren't for everyone. If you aren't using an RBA like a Kayfun or you like to change voltage a lot then a VV mod like the MVP 2 is wonderful. But, if you find you settle on a single voltage setting all of the time or if you're using RBAs then you're probably better off with a mech mod, and possibly a Kick. The Kick will hold a stable voltage and you control your wattage with your coil. Lower ohm increases wattage.

Take the Kick off and you can sub ohm until you're blowing massive dragon clouds.

It took a while, but I've finally convinced my wife to make the change to a mech mod and she loves it. She had an Innokin SVD but she never really used the variable voltage aspect. She just liked the fact that it had a big 18650 battery and lasted a couple of days on a single charge. I finally managed to get her to try a Nemesis with a Kick. Same 18650 battery, same iClear 30S tank on top. Dialed in the coil to match her SVD voltage setting and that's all it took. She loves the fact that it lasts almost the same amount of time as the SVD on a single charge, had consistent vape power beginning to end, and is only half the size of her SVD which makes it a lot easier for her to carry around.

The only thing she doesn't like is the bottom fire button. Guess our next mod is going to be a Roller.

Great write-up!

I also have concerns about the battery not being user accessible - feel the same way about the majority of cell phones being that way nowadays.

I'm about to pull the trigger on purchasing an MVP V2 this week - especially with so many endorsements & write-ups in this thread alone.

Thanks for mentioning the MVP's ability to charge another device! I happen to think that is a *great* feature (while most comments I've seen describe is as silly ;))

I got caught one day in Manhattan with a dead cellphone! That was a huge PITA! (I was waiting to meetup with my daughter and was waiting for her call).

So having the ability to do a quick emergency charge of my cell is a high-value feature to me. Cause ya know I'm not gong anywhere without my vape!!

In the meantime also, I picked up one of those dedicated battery pack device chargers for my walk-about excursion in NYC

That type of thing could be used as an emergency charger for PV batteries.

Mutual backup to each other - Boy Scouts would be proud of that arrangement.

Excellent thread!

:toast:

I've been looking at the same dilemma recently and I think, for me, it comes down to the following.

MVP and other inbuilt battery devices will eventually stop holding a charge and you have to throw the circuitry away with them (unless you're going to open them up yourself)
Provari, VTR and other such Mods that are circuit boards with a removable battery won't have that problem.

MVP etc. needs to be near a power point to use and charge simutaneously.
Provari, VTR etc. doesn't, because the battery can charge while the device is elsewhere, say, being vaped. Also means you can vape and charge in the car at the same time without a cable tying your hand to something and getting tangled.
(leaving charging batteries or devices unattended is not recommended but it's worth it to not have to turn the charge off to step out of the room for 10 mintues for a vape, if you don't vape indoors)

MVP etc has longer battery life so can go for longer between charges
Provari, VTR etc. Can carry spare batteries so can go for extended periods without being near a charge point.

I often spend 3-5 days nowhere near power so external batteries are a MUST if I'm going to avoid needing the emergency lozenges/patches/analogs. I also hate to throw things away unnecessarily so my upgrade will be to a VTR/Provari type. If the VV3 works well in your life then the MVP will also suit you.

Here I am wondering if even mentioning a RBA would be a good idea and sub ohming on a mech comes up.
Scary suggestion considering the op started the thread mentioning a MVP vs ProVari.

The only sensible part of that was mentioning a kick, although I'd never use one.

Not everyone is looking for massive dragon clouds although I'm sure your illustration impresses many.

Not everybody bothers to read the OP.... Sadly.

This is so sad considering the potential danger of leading someone who started their thread by stating they are "kinda new to all this" into sub ohm vaping.

She also mentions looking for better battery life. Sub ohm? Really?

Suggesting a Chinese clone in the same sentence as a Provari is likely to open up a can of worms and this isn't the thread to beat the already dead cow.

Get the MVP and you will be very happy.

Let the cool kids on the corner worry about their ultra big dragon clouds
