Did you guys ever see that South Park episode with the guinea pigs?

It was the one where they start a peruvian panflute band

Heehee! I don't watch South Park very often, but this sounds like one I would enjoy! I absolutely LOVE panflutes and guinea pigs, but I like panflutes WAY more! The music is usually so soothing!

Lol i think you would enjoy it. Guinea pigs of all sorts (vapire guinea pigs, robber guinea pigs) try to take over the world. And its up the the panflute wielding peruvians to subdue them!!!

Dun dun dunnnnn

I really don't watch much South Park either, but one of those few occasions that episode came on. I too am a fan of panflutes, but my wife threw mine out. I didn't know how to play it or anything, but I liked having one..

Hey everyone!! Happy....it's NOT Monday Day!!!! hehehe

I saw some previews of south park and that was enough for me, never did watch any of the shows. I just don't like watching people being ugly and disrespectful, and that's what it seemed like from the previews way back in the day.

Then you haven't missed anything Deb :)

If anything its gotten more offensive. I catch an episode here and there but I don't watch it that often. I remember when I was 12 years old I thought it was hilarious tho lol Its been on quite awhile

lol that's pretty much what I figured. I would never let my son watch it. Then again, I wouldn't let him watch the simpsons either. And I did see a few of those. I figured it's hard enough to teach kids to be respectful, without letting them watch shows where a kid tells his dad to eat his shorts on a regular basis. I know I'm in the minority on this one, but it's how I felt and feel.

Lol believe me you are not alone. While I won't mind my daughter watching Simpsons when she gets a little older, I grew up very differently.

When I was growing up if my mother so much as found a book that talked about magic she would throw it out. I'm talking harry potter-like books. Instead of thinking "Oh thats awesome my 5th-6th grade son is reading 500-page books" she just said something like blasphemy or bad influence and tossed them all. We didn't get cable until I moved out of the house lol. They weren't amish or anything just overprotective, but in the end all they did was push all of us to go partying. They're normal parents now tho, they knocked off that live in a bubble crap after child number 3.

Basically we were just way Catholic. But that ended up like it always does, at the bar lol

yeah, sometimes it does have the opposite affect, but seeds are still planted. I'm interdenominational but at my church I was criticized for letting him watch teenage mutant ninja turtles, which taught respect, fought crime, stood up for what was right, because folks thought it taught eastern type religion. Those doing the criticizing all let their kids watch the simpsons. lol I'm sure I did a lot wrong, but musta done sumpthin right. He's 28 now, mostly has a good head on his shoulders, and is polite and respectful to others. What I started in that area, the Army drove home in spades! lol All any parent can do is the best they know how and hope and pray!! lol

Those are just the cutest guinea pigs!!!!!!! I did have some pan flutes years ago but could never get them to play very well. They are kind of like blowing into the tops of a bottle.... hard to get the hang of!

I used to watch the 3 stooges when I was a kid and couldn't believe how violent it really was when I grew up. We thought it was hilarious when they used to hit each other! D'oh!

yeah, there were things as a kid that I never thought twice about watching, and loved em. As an parent, there were a number of things I didn't care for my son watching, but I definitely had to pick my battles, and those were the ones I chose. lol I'm not trying to fault anyone who likes em, or say no one should. Was just saying it was a decision I made for me. There's plenty as bad or worse stuff just in commercials etc. Just wanna be clear I'm not trying to say what anyone else should or shouldn't watch or enjoy.

When I was a kid, one of my favorite movies was Ghostbusters. I watched it so many times I could quote it line for line. I was shocked when I watched it again as an adult, because there are so many off-color jokes and sexual innuendos in that movie! The thing that surprised me the most was that I didn't pick up on any of it when I was little. My mind just didn't register. It was the same way watching those old Bugs Bunny cartoons as a child. My point is that kids might not pick up on the same things we do, although violence, language, and other things that are more explicit are a different matter altogether.

That's very true. I've had the same thing happen with some stuff I watched as a kid that I don't like now. Not sure how old you are, but I'm 49, and I do think kids are more aware of things like that today than when I was a kid. Heck, I watched reruns of Lucy and .... Van .... where married folks slept in seperate beds even. Mike and Carol Brady slept in the same bed, but they just slept. lol Kids today probably know more about that stuff than I did as a young adult. lol

Yeah, to be honest, I'm not really sure what kids know now. I suppose it's a different world now (I'm 33 btw). I'm sure growing up with the internet in the house would have a pretty profound effect, and I know that children's programming is a lot different. I know they've curbed a lot of violence and racial stereotyping in cartoons and such, but I guess there is a plethora of other places where they can be exposed to more adult content with very little effort. Video games are a lot different too -- the new stuff is a far cry from Pac-Man and Mario Bros., and from what I've seen I find a lot of it pretty shocking and distasteful.
