I haven't used it since June 20th the battery hadn't been charged since before that, and it wasnt even charged. I used a 2 month old charger that is an xtar charger on the 19 to charge the battery. Today i had been inside all day, and I stuck it in my purse in the case and left my house... In the car(which had the ac on and outside was in the 80's) I started smelling something funky, than I heard it explode and my Gucci purse:( was crazy hot) thank goodness it didn't blow me or my purse up because it was on my lap( I wasn't driving).. But why did it happen? Pictures will come

..... I pulled the battery out of my mini at 3.7 the charger is for those batteries, it's an xtar and has different setting.....

The only reliable way to check what voltage the battery comes off the charger is with a meter of some sort, if something burnt out in the charger's circuits, anythings possible, on any quality charger.

I understand that but it wasn't being used.. It was sitting and doing nothing when it exploded. It worked fine when it was used over a week ago... Not understand why all the sudden out of literally no where it exploded.

wow! I hate hearing stories like this! I take mine to work with me and it stays in my purse in my locker. I can't imagine what I would do if some of mine did this in my purse, unattended in my locker! Only a couple people know that I vape and only one person is aware that I sneak off to the one staller bathroom for mini vape breaks. I would be mortified! I don't usually carry spare batts, they are always in my device and the device is usually turned off while in my purse. Scary! I'm so glad you weren't hurt! If you find a reason be sure to let us know.

Also all my batteries come off. The charger around 4.0-4.2 I have a meter and 2 provaris that give the same readout

Cool, that's the safe way, and the provari makes checking easy!! :)

Maybe keep the cartos out of the same case as batteries, metal and batteries don't mix well, although I can't imagine how it would have shorted the battery....

Anyone know if juice is conductive at all in any flavor?? Nah...can't be or the coils would always be shorted....sounds like the only possible explanation would be a manufacturing defect, or somehow the carto shorted it...???????

This is my only fear. As a new vaper, I'm always reading about what not to do with these batteries and how to handle them. I'm glad you were not hurt. I also just recenty bought a few 18350's getting ready for my next mod that takes these batteries.

This could happen with any of these batteries. Even the ones that are used for things other than PVs. Maybe a safer bet would be to keep batteries in a charging bag?

Those PV cases have a metal zipper if I am not mistaken. I keep mine in a plastic battery case.

BTW- I am not at all techinically inclined lol Just thinking out loud.

Internal shorts can happen. Typically they come from being put on a charger in an undervolttage condition. A chemical reaction takes place and the short is created. Sometimes the short is severe and the batteries go thermal while on the charger. Other times it is less severe and takes some time to reach bursting temperature.

Glad that the only damage was contained to the purse and the items inside. Although if you are anything like a friend of mine's wife, she'd probably prefer to lose a finger than one of her pretty purses.

Yes, I know it could happen to any type/size battery. I was just thinking of maybe a bad batch of 18350's out there.
