I had my Nano on my lap, and it fell on the hard ceramic floor, cover came off, and battery fell out. Is it safe to use? I'm worried that it might explode. I have been vaping for a few years or so now, but I recently heard about a guy who had a battery in his pocket, and it exploded and caught his pants on fire. The battery looks okay.
That battery exploded because he had no door on his mod, with CHANGE and KEYS in the same pocket. What not to do 101.

Yeah, don't transport your spare "naked" batteries loosely in a pocket or purse. Any metal like keys or coins can touch the positive end of the battery and cause the battery to go into thermal runaway. Prevent this from happening by using a plastic battery case to transport your spare batteries.

Closely inspect your dropped battery for any indentations or tearing of the insulating plastic wrap. If they look ok, then the battery should be safe to use again. Also a great idea to check that the voltage is within normal limits (3.4 - 4.2 volts) with a voltage meter.
