...Anyone know of a company that sells this type of charger? I thought I saw one from some chinese company when I first started, but didn't understand at that time what it was about. If I could find that company would look into trying one. No way could I make a homemade one, lol.

I see a market opportunity here folks! I'm sitting at my computer puffing away all day long, and my Penstyle battery has just expired. I'm keeping about 3 of them in rotation as it is, yet I've got 3 spare ports in my (powered) USB hub!

Yet this is not something I would ever attempt to build myself. So, anyone?

It takes a few hours to do the mod, and I've never done a penstyle but I could look at your battery and see if I can do it. If it is assembled like the 901 I don't see it being a problem. I can start doing these mods for anyone that is interested. Since it does take some time I would ask $30 US and require you to send a standard USB cable of your choice and a dead donor battery for your particular device. I'm running out of USB cables! lol Of course if there is a problem and I can't get your particular battery to work like the 901 mod I would refund the money for labor. If possible I'd like to receive an atomizer for any devices that I don't already own (901 and KB Classic) so I can test it when it's done. Of course your atomizer would be returned with the modified battery. If you don't want to send an atomizer, that is fine but I won't be able to fully test the device. I can only test by measuring output voltage of the casing after the battery has been modified. I would guarantee that it works when you receive it. I'll build it with the same method I've done the other two with and it should last a long time. Aside from that, no guarantees - I'm not running a business I'm just doing this to help other folks out. Anyone interested can send me a private message and I'll get back to you with my address and any other details you need.

That's great--it'll develop into a small business before you know it :D

But you live in the Us, and shipping would cost a lot and be very slow (judging from experience). Anybody in the UK?

I don't know if I really want it to, time vs money just isn't there for these devices when you make them all by hand 1 at a time. I was doing it more of a favor type thing. If it was something I could totally make myself that would be different, but the iInitial costs include a $15 battery and a $8 cable, so it's not too profitable when compared to my regular job.

The usb penstyle I made from your pictures still works. I have been using it today also on my i-pod charger works good still, even though I said it not
as powerfull from computer usb port.

Making the battery component to a wired device is easy.( for the pen model) just pop off the grey cap. Stick some needle nose plyers into it pull out the battery. Then with the round part on the needle nose plyers (becarefull) pull out the screw part, cut the electronics off of it. than solder a wire in the inner middle part of the screw, make sure you put the wire through the tube first. Then put it together. With a piece of metal rub the paint off of the tube, make sure you rub quite hard because you want the solder to beable to stick to the metal. You'll need a switch, I used simple on off switch from a phone. Then solder one of the correct contacts to the outer part of the tube along with the other wire your going to attach to the usb (I used speaker wire to extend the distance..lol) wire red and black.

and there ya have it!

Exactly. I actually made a complete how-to video but haven't gotten around to editing it yet.

Cool! I might take a look at it. Your version dose look better and stylish than mine, if only I had a better camera to show how ugly mine looks :).. lol

But I like it, I bet if I up'ed the voltage a little more maybe I would get more smoke, could possibly make it run on 4 cheap double A 1000 m amp nic cad batteries. I wonder:rolleyes:..

True, and thanks for the offer :)

Mcastle: you make it sound easy. Maybe I can recruit one of the local geeks to do it. E-smoking is spreading among my hubby's workmates, all of whom are good at customizing any kind of computer part/microelectronics.

It's just a question of time
