Does the battlestar's screen tell you the amp draw on the batteries? My alien threading has popped out of the case. Although I did like the performance, I'm a little annoyed at the build quality.
No mod that I know of shows the battery amp draw. The ones with an amp display, like the Alien, show the amps at the atomizer. Pretty much useless information.

EDIT: saw that Anthony gave the same information just before me :)

You know, you buy something because everyone's raving about it and once you do you start to read in depth posting about it to learn. That's when you start to read threads like this one where it starts to self destruct.

My Alien 220W is in a USPS truck in my city scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I hope it was built by a Chinese craftsman who paid particular attention to detail! :)

All tech has a failure rate. Not knowing sales or number of problem units of the Alien, it may have a high failure rate or a low one, who knows. You usually hear about issues and complaining on discussion boards but most people don't post "Mine's fine, no problems".

I will say my experience with MadVapes and warranty work SUCKS and I'm being nice here. They got my Alien 5/10, I did require a signature so I know they got it. I've emailed many times, not a single response. Weekly phone calls, I get transferred and dropped. Not expecting to get it back due to no communication from them. Hoping it just shows up in the mail.

I agree. Most satisfied customers don't brag that they received a good one.

There's something to be said for buying mods local, and I used to do that to support the local vape shop. They would honor the full 90 day warranty. Then, they changed it to 30 days even though their sale prices were 30% higher than mail order.

Mods have generally gotten cheaper online, so even if it's a crap shoot vaping is an inexpensive hobby compared to buying a $60 carton of cigs a week.

I have very little extra money and as a result, have become something of a cheap mod connoisseur, as it were. Oh sure, I have a couple of fancy devices for TC, and I certainly have purchased a lot of stuff over the years when counting it all, but the vast majority of my devices cost less than $60. A BUNCH cost less than $45. My experience has taught me two, related, incredibly important things when purchasing and using cheap, Chinese devices:

1. Purchase from a place who you think or know has a better track record of honoring warranty, and then expect that the device will not last you a day beyond that period, especially if it's going to be your primary device. Anything extra is a bonus. And really, since most warranties are still 60-90 days (or should be), the per-week/day cost of a $55 device, even if it dies after 3 months, is not that severe.

2. If you want your device to last past the warranty period and you are able, get AT LEAST one more device to rotate. My cheap mods have almost all last me well over a year because I don't use any of them primarily. I switch around which inexpensive mods I'm using frequently, and it has worked out beautifully (knock on wood).

Sorry this happened to you and glad no one got hurt.

Well hopefully they have lost you as a customer! I know they have lost me as a potential customer based on your experience.

Before I got into mechs I used to purchase my mods from elementvape. They have amazing customer service and their prices are beatable only if the site its being compared to is having a sale.

I bought the mod from VapeNW and they only warranty for 30 days, which I was past. Smok has a 90-day warranty and MadVapes is their exclusive warranty place, hence why it went there. Never have bought from MadVapes and won't after this.

And I'm not against Smok or VapeNW. Will order from VapeNW again easily. Not sure about Smok though. The Alien is the only thing of theirs that has appealed to me. Have picked up a Tesla Nano 120 which I love and a Battlestar which I love almost as much as a Tesla. Would get either or both before another Alien.
