My atomisers don't seem to last long!

Hi everyone,

I know these things are disposible, but I seem to go through them rather quickly. I've been vaping for 8 odd weeks and 7 of those with an ego-t. I went through 5 of the cone atomisers in 3 or so weeks and since then I've been using ce2r4 xl cartomisers at 3ohms and ce2 clearomiser 2.4-2.6 ohms which I've used 5 and 3 of respectively.

In that time I've gone through roughly 70ml of e-liquid. Which I don't think can be classed as heavy vaping. It just seems to me at this rate I'm going to be spending (in fact I have) more on atomisers than juice.

Is anyone else experiencing the same as me? Is there a way I could make them last longer?

You can make them last longer by cleaning them and/or using only one flavor in each cartomizer. You mention using the clearomizers--the clear plastic casing is helpful for refilling, but prone to cracking. Unfortunately, cartomizers are really only designed to last about a day, so the fact that we can stretch them out to several days or even weeks is just a bonus. There's a reason you can buy a pack of 5 dual-coil cartomizers for $10--and other than the clear ones, they'll usually last me for at least a week, usually more unless I switch flavors too frequently.

I agree. If I can make a carto last for a week or more I'm stoked.

I don't use atomizers except to test juices and occasionally drip a juice that is thicker than I will put in cartos.

Clearomizers crack and fall apart. It's what they do. They are for tinkerers, not for people who just want something to work. If you want to tinker, there are Youtube videos of removing the caps/seals and burning off a clearomizer. And Clouds of Vapor sells replacement tubes for them.

I recommend Boge cartos (I use the standard resistance. the 2.0 ones are the hotter ones that use charge faster. and they are harder to find but 2.5 mediums exist). And I recommend thin (20% or less VG) clear light-colored juices or other color juices you know have little or no flavoring sediment. That sediment will crap up both attys and cartos.

One member has a test for sediment - drip the juice on hot aluminum foil. When the juice sizzles away, if it leaves a lot of slag then it will also crap up your cartos and attys faster than clearer juices.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the clearomisers so far. They just seem to fragile and have all leaked if I've laid my ego down (the drip tip fills with juice). I just tried them because I thought it would be handy to see how much juice I had left.

I haven't swapped different flavours in each one, as I was worried about contaminating the flavours. I'm using liquid from vaperite, which is great. Maybe its a bit thick??? Its a 50/50 vg/pg blend.

I've noticed a lot of people seem to use a 306 atomiser. Do these last longer? Is there any way I could use them without dripping. As it wouldn't work for me when I at work.

Hey cheese,

You're not alone man. I am on the same setup as you and I go through so many atomizers.

In the end I went with cartos Coz they're cheaper - and I don't have to clean them.

Each carto is good to me for about 2 days of continual vaping. After that they lose flavor.

Considering, Iused to smoke a pack of 25 cigs every 2 days and that costs me about $15.

$15 would supply me with enough cartos these days to last me 2 weeks almost. Quite a bit of savings there.

Dual coils do burnt out my liquid at a very fast rate though.

306 atomizer has an external bridge and I think a larger threaded-end hole. They need 306 drip tips which slide over the outside of the atty (well mine slides on part-way). The 306 carts are not great, recessed small juice cup, prone to a bit of burnt plastic taste even w/ blue foam stuffing, but I occasionally use one to give a juice a longer test. What I like about 306 atty for testing juices is that it seems pretty easy to blow out and it has no tube above the bridge to hold on to the aroma of the previous liquid.

People who like LR seem to be fond of some LR Cisco 306 attys. I just use standard res for testing and for occasional vaping of my 50/50 juices, usually on my slim manual 510. (I won't put 50/50 in stuffing-type cartos)

I have a couple of 50/50 juices I love but I feel my Boge and KR8 cartos are a bit more sluggish to drag/wick with even 70PG/30Vg juices vs 80PG/20VG. So I drip my 50/50's or thin them with a similar PG juice to use in cartos.

Do your atties burn out (high ohm) or do they stop performing well? I'm not great at cleaning mine, maybe once a week if that, and they average about a month. When I say one month it's calculated as if I used only that atty. If I have two in rotation I'd expect to go two months. How many ml of liquid do you use a day? 5 atties in 3 weeks seems unusual.

I've been using 50/50 VR4 from vaperite mostly and a few others that are all 50/50 also from vaperite. All taste great. Sadly there isn't an option to change the mix.

Some have burned out (I think. They made a really loud pop and then spat stuff. And then didn't work). Others have just faded. Two of the cones just leaked all the time. Every drag I was getting a mouth full of juice (I tried different tanks, but to no avail). I think they had a problem with the spikes that hold the wicks.

Also I've never cleaned an atty, as none have last much more the 3 or 4 days at most.

I don't really know what to tell you are you keeping them wet? I have had one atty used on a daily basis for the better part of 6 months. I used to clean it weekly but the last 3-4 months I haven't even bothered. I have only put RY4 in it and drip only so when i start to get that slightly burnt taste add 3 more drops and good to go. Are you using a high voltage mod? Something just doesn't seem right.
