My atty is breaking ohm meters?

I've been using my patriot v2 for a few months now. Recently I made a coil and put it on the meter. It started to read as I was screwing it on but when I screwed it all the way it read 0.00. I repeated the process and the same thing happened.

This also started happening with my other attys. I thought it was the meter so I got a friends meter to finish my coil build and the same thing. His meter also reads 0.00 on all attys.

I decided to brave it and finish the build without a meter and the atty works fine. No problems at all.

Any one have some insight here?

When tightening - which you should NOT do - You are pinching the center pin and causing a short as read by the meters.
Likely you have a soft center grommet.
Screw to snug only.

Warning - My Trident suffers this issue. It cost me 2 springs before I realized what was going on. On a lesser designed mod, it could have caused a catastrophic Battery failure.

Also - Turn on your meter AFTER attaching your atty and OFF before removal - surging is not good for most electronics.

is the + pin of the atty extended beyond the threaded part of the 510 connection?? if not, the threaded part of the 510 connection is touching the + pin of the ohm meter and making it see it as a short (0.00) ....

or else you have a short in your build, try taking a reading on the atty without a coil on it and see iff you get a 1.0 or open read
