i have a 2.2 Ohm 510 used, that still measures 2.2 on the dmm... but no vape.. just low sizzle that's all...
i've cleaned it using the method, and even soaked in alcohol.... no difference...

I intuit the thing is still alive... after all it's sizzling ... will keep trying... anybody have this experience?

Sounds like it is still wet.
If it were not wet it would not be sizzling.

I've gotten done with dry burns only to find the atomizer not working so well at first.
But after a dozen or so drags it kicks in and starts working great.

I think sometimes I don't dry them well enough before I start using them again.

i dont know if im doing something wrong here lol or maybe its just the atty i am using. the atty i have is a 510 magma atty from volcanocigs, since i have had it i cant recall ever seeing the coils turn bright orange like they have on my other attys, is this just how they are?? or do i have some weird defective atty that still fires and vapes but just doesn't turn orange lol??? im a bit afraid to do this method but ive gave it a shot and just holding the button down on my inferno for 5 seconds at a time

You cannot see the coils if the mesh material is still covering them. Many user remove the mesh that you see inside the atty using tweezers and tuggibng/pulling at it slowly and carefully (there are vids on youtube).
If you try the dry burn in dim light where it is dark inside the body of the atty you might be able to see some glow from within the mesh but it will have to be that the coils are pretty clean and burned off their residue.

I've tried the highping clean a few times, and although it does work at removing buildup on the coils, I've also noticed that after the rejuvenated attys completely die and I take them apart to look at them, the coil fibers are next to gone. Since I first noticed this, I took more care not to apply air or water too hard to it, as this has kicked out fibers in past cleanings. Despite this, I still lose fibers doing a highping clean.

I have to wonder if allowing the coil to get so hot, to the point that it turns orange over and over, isn't breaking down these fibers, at least partially. Has anyone else noticed this? Do we even know what the melting point of the fibers are? Does it come close to the temperature of the glowing hot metal wrapped around them?

Ultrasonic cleaners also shake the fibers loose and strip the paint off the outside, so even though the coil is clean, the fibers are diminished.

Funny how such concern was not shown when using tobacco.
As for reusing or possibly abusing the hardware, maybe thats is why they are sold as "disposable". If there are such concerns then maybe tossing the hardware and using a new unit would be the better choice?

Really? Acetone? This might not be the best choice.

I thought it may disolve the eliquid gunk pretty good and as far as I know it burns all off.
there are diff types available I have 100% pure from beauty supply store. some of the stuff from paint section in hardware store doesnt seem clean or may have other stuff in it.

I would be leery of using it, not really stuff meant for consumption like vodka/pga/water. Just a thought.

I'm not sure if it would all burn off or not, need to ask someone more knowledgeable but there are tons of posts advising against use of similar type chemicals.

I don't look at it as dissolving the gunk off, I see it more as "softening" to make the burn more effective.

On my 510 I can see the glow peeking through the sides of the bridge, providing I block out any outside light in the atty. (btw, sweet avatar)

This technique has worked amazingly for me. At first I was afraid to keep it orange for the 20some-odd seconds, but once I finally did, I can tell it really helped to get that stubborn gunk off. Thanks to the OPer for sharing this!:toast:
